Life varies with the change in climate
Yes it was a very lengthy paper.

I myself couldn't manage time and didn't do justice to the comprehension passage.

I also made blunder of PUNCTUATING Q5 B whereas it was supposed to be converted into indirect speech from direct. I lost straight 5 marks there because I made this blunder due of lack of time and confusion.
Hey wait!! We had to convert the paragraph to indirect speech? It wasn't written on the question, it just said write in paragraph form.

But what's done is done. Let's not fret about this anymore. We've still got 9 more to go and we wouldn't want to hang on to all these negative thoughts and mess them up.

All the best everyone

how do we write in paragraph form. By narrating it in indirect speech.

kosam zahra 222 Saturday, February 17, 2018 03:44 PM

if you read question than it states that " rewrite the following dialogue in direct speech in a paragraph form. SO we have to convert it to indirect speech .

Yes, requirement was to write in indirect speech and convert it in paragraph form. Dialogue is an example of direct speech and to convert it in paragraph one needs to convert it in indirect speech. It was most time consuming and energy draining question.

I read somewhere on social media that one should start with solving questions related to pair of words, idioms, sentence correction, punctuation, narration, prepositions and translation, then attempt precis and comprehension. I followed it and when I started indirect speech paragraph, I felt being trapped badly as it was one heck of task that sucked much time. I was left with 20 minutes when I started precis. Solving precis and comprehension hastily, was a nightmare. I gave more time to question of 5 marks than those of 40 marks. Same happened to me in essay paper where I thought that every topic is doable so, I wasted ample time in sketching outlines for 5 topics because I was stuck in every outline after four to five points, which resulted in incomplete outline and conclusion. Feeling disappointed.

Meet the man who missed 30 marks paper by following the same advice of doings passages in the last.... Alhumdulillah

'Climate determinism: How Climate Determines the Character of Nations' is the title that I forgot to write because of the hurry of moving on to next question. Missed Comprehension altogether and did not attempt some of the sentences which I could have made. Narration and translation are key culprits, though I wouldn't blame them as mismanagement of time in papers is a fairly recurrent thing with me.
One major explanation is my overconfidence about the subject; I never directly prepared anything related to the subject partly because I thought I could pass it without any preparation and partly because I started to prepare really late for this attempt.

I was greatly depressed following the debacle... so much so that I have started to enjoy rest of the papers ;)
