@Alexkahn
Its good activity in order make effective writing in exam but i think , it takes lot of time . i daily read dawn , i realized that they change their vacub on weekly basis . in short , they bring new words , which again become hurdles for us . so , i personally recommend to you that you should get vacub from any Senior , CSP , as well as from any famous academy , which should be proved enough for you in exam .

Steps to Know Meaning without using Dictionary
Quote:
Reading Newspaper is really a good exercise to improve vocabulary. If you think that consulting dictionary is a source to waste time then you can follow the following steps to get the meaning without opening dictionary. The Steps suggested by Prof. K S Nagpal: (as per my understanding) 1) Skip: If the sentence is giving its meaning without the problematic word then you may leave the word. 2) Cognate: Try to relate it to some sentence (you know the meaning of that sentence even without the problem creating word) in your memories where the same word was used. Then relate both the sentences and it will be easier to understand the word. 3) Contextualize: Try to understand the meaning with reference to the context. For Example, "He is a candid man. No one can blame him for dishonesty." In here, Candid is a new word, but the sentence is showing that it is a synonym of Honest. 4) Break: Break the word into smaller words. For Example, you don't know the word Idiomatically. It has few words hidden in it i.e. "Idiom", "Idiomatic" and "ally". You know the meaning of Idiom and Idiomatic. You just have to figure out the meaning after adding "ally" that usually shows the way of some thing. So now you know Idiomatically means "in an idiomatic way". 5) Guess: If you fail to figure out the meaning and even then you don't want to consult the dictionary, just make a guess. After practising alot with the previous steps, you can make your guesses much accurate. Note: Whenever you need, follow the steps in mentioned order I couldn't make it more brief. Try the steps. All the best |
