Revenge is reciprocation of mistreat between two individuals or groups. It is like throwing a stone in reply to a brick. Quite contrary to the justice, in revenge one never bothers to investigate cause and effect relationship nor does he inquire his own part before triggering any vengeance.
If someone revenges for any harm done to him, he actually harms back and provokes another reactionary behavior on the opponent side. This way Revenge Versus Revenge never ends. Like fighting among wild animals reaches to no settlement.
As fire does not extinguish fire, disputes can not be settled by disputes.
Distinction of human being lies in a fact that by using the faculty of reason he tries to avoid the adverse consequences of his actions. In this connection, he lays the foundation of social, religious and moral values like Tolerance, magnanimity, forgiveness and mutual coexistence.
"Forgiveness is better than revenge" Holy Prophet.
Ethics taught by the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) received world wide recognition due to their huge vitality. The holy Prophet (PBUH) always preferred mercy to wrath.
Besides, renowned philosophers, scholars and sages acknowledged the principle of pardoning in response to any insult or injury. They emphasized the need of “Exchanging rose with a stone”, “Scold with a Smile” and “Malice with benevolence” because this is how a human behavior is different from those of wild animals under such circumstances.
Instead of hurting back if a kind soul forgives the damage wrecked upon him, he not only does embarrass his opponent but develops in him a sense of his wrong doings also.
As Benazir Bhutto rightly puts it, “Democracy is the best revenge”.
Forgiveness, therefore, has more effective consequences. Unlike revenge it constructs the personality and inculcates the best values in society. It saves from further disaster. Revenge on the other side complicates the issue and sows the seed of prolonged animosity that lasts generation to generation. It is a symbol of Loss and attribute of nonsense organism like those of wild beasts.
Therefore people suffering violence and vengeance should remodel their attitudes towards each other and indoctrinate their lives according to the principles of dispensation, remission and absolution.
