We
"Abondon" what has been the object of Prvious effort;
"Resign" an Office;
"Abdicate" a Throne;
"Retire" from a Post;
"Withdraw" from a point of vantage;
"Vacate" a Prmises;
"Quit" something that we leave suddenly;
"Forgo" an advantage or claim;
"Renounce" a pretension;
and
"Relinquish" something reluctantly.
