'Teacher allowed me to come into the class' gives the same meaning in lesser words than you have used..

The master asked how long I would take in warming his food..

When we convert an interrogative sentence to indirect narration, we change it into an assertive sentence..
In question we use 'WH question word + helping verb+ sub'
In assertive form we use 'WH question word + sub + helping verb'.
You hadn't changed its form.. I have given the correction..
Keep practicing..

@Seher and Da skeptic

I am following "Exploring the world of English and Wren and Martin "both books depict that suppose if Direct is: I SAID TO HIM,"WHO ARE YOU"?
INDIRECT: I ASKED HIM WHO HE WAS.
Which is again the same sequence as I answered THe Master one...
( BUT I GET IT,I Will CHANGE IN TO SIMPLE ASSERTIVE FORM WHERE-EVER I CAN, According to sentence,May be the above one was a special case of Question)

In direct speech when you ask a question HELPING VERB comes first before subject. In indirect speech helping verb comes after the subject.

Direct: I SAID TO HIM,"WHO ARE YOU"? Here ARE is a helping verb comes before subject.

INDIRECT: I ASKED HIM WHO HE WAS (Here He is a subject which comes before a helping verb WAS.)

Your example: The master inquired how long would I take in warming his food. (It is indirect speech you have given helping verb before subject which is WOULD. It is incorrect, indeed.)

Da Skeptic's example: The master asked how long I would take in warming his food.. (He has given helping verb after subject and it is correct. )

If only you understand it.

Regards,
