throughout ages of human development men hv been the subject to miseries of 2 kinds:those imposed by external nature, and, those tht human beings misguidedly inflicted upon each other.At first, by far the worst evils were those tht were due to the environment.Man was a rare species, whose survival was precarious.Without the agility of monkey, without any coating of fur,he has difficulty in escaping frm wild beasts,and in most parts of world could not endure the winter's cold.He had only 2 biological advantages:the upright posture freed his hands,and intelligence enable him to transmit experience.gradually,these 2 advantages gave him supremacy. The no. of human species increased beyond those of any other large mammals.But nature could still assert power by means of flood n famine n pestilence n by exacting from the great majority of mankind incessant toil in securing of daily bread.
In our own day our bondage to external nature is fast diminishing, as a result of the growth of scientific intelligence.Famines n pestilence still occur,but we know better, year by year, wht should b done to prevent them. Hard work is still necessary, but only because we r unwise: given peace n cooperation,we could subsist on a very moderate amount of toil. With existing techniques,we can, whenever we choose to exercise wisdom,b free of many ancient forms of bondage to external nature.
But the evils tht man inflict upon each other hv not diminished in the same degree.There r still wars, oppressions, n hideous cruelties,n greedy men still snatch wealth frm those who r less skilful or less ruthless than themselves. love of power still leads to vast tyrannies or to mere obstruction when its grosser forms r impossible. And fear-deep-scarcely conscious fear- is still the dominant motive in very many lives.

man has been the victim of natural calamities n self generated problem during all its developmental procedure.He has to bear environmental stresses n wild beasts without any protective covering as compared to other species. However bi paddy n intelligence make him superior of all. moreover, nature checked the human population by inflicting calamities upon him n this urged man to find the solution of these problems. Owing to his intelligence n use of modern technology, enable man to cope with these calamities successfully.But man's self generated problem like war, prejudice, lust for money n power create more havoc with long lasting effects n with no permanent solution.
