Default css comprehension 2010 pl critically analyze

And still it moves. the words of Galileo, murmured when the tortures of the Inquisition had driven him to recant the Truth he knew, apply in a new way to our world today. sometimes, in the knowledge of all that has been discovered, all that has been done to make life on the planet happier and more worthy, we may be tempted to settle down to enjoy our heritage. that would, indeed, be the betrayal of our trust.

These men and women of the past have given everything---comfort, time, treasure, peace of mind and body, life itself---that we might live as we do. the challenege to each one of us is to carry on their work for the sake of future generations.

The adventurous human mind must not falter. still must we question the old truths and work for the new ones. still must we risk scorn, cynicism, neglect, loneliness, poverty, persecution, if need be. we must shut our ears to easy voice which tells us that human nature will never alter as an exucse for doing nothing to make life more worthy.

Thus will the course of the history of mankind go onward, and the world we know move into a new splendour for those who are yet to be.

Questions:
1) What made Galileo recant the Truth he knew?
2) What is the heritage being alluded to in the first paragraph?
3)what does the 'betrayal of our trust' imply
4) Why do we need to question the old truths and work for the new ones?
Explain the words or expressions as highlighted/underlined in the passage.

1)Galileo was motivated to delve into hitherto unknown but contentious arenas of discovery. Therefore,he laid bare the truth about his discovery,in order to open new ways of application of his discovery,to the whole world. 2)Heritage,in the first passage refers to the discoveries, which mankind has made over their colletive existence. These exertions have become a wellspring of comfort, shared knowledge and treasure, thus further cementing its claim to becoming a heritage 3)Betrayal of the trust implies revelling in ,and making use of the discoveries of the past, without trying to improvise on those creative works ,in a spirit of inquistion.THus lack of a conscientious collective effort,in the form of new discoveries, amounts to doing away, with the rich traditions of our ancestors. 4)We need to question the old truths and work for new ones in order to continue the march of history in a befitting manner.Only by following this path,we can usher into a new enlightened era for our future generations, marked by wholesome discoveries.

First answer wrong..All others right and very well written..it was a tricky comprehension..Do look into the historical meaning of 'inquistion'..I remember being one of the veryyyyy few(Probably the only one) at my centre to attempt this comprehension completely right..Alhamdulilah

hamza bhai one more question.I am worried about my precis solution of 2011 paper. Can i pass this paper if precis attempt is not up to mark.my solution was short of 10-15 words ; unhappiness can have many etiologies. There are some people who ,due to some unfavourable circumstances in early life, make achievement in life ,as an end in itself without catering to the ground realities.ON the other hand, some people escape the realities of life by dampening their cognitive abilities. The latter category of people is more difficult to treat as they have to be taught the desirability of happiness.Still there are others who believe that they have lived all the possibilities that life has to offer. So these people ,like the one with a escapist attitude towards life ,think that happiness is irrelevant to them Due to this attitude of theirs, they are NOT regarded as unhappy in the normal sense of the term.PSYCHOLOGICAL UNDERPINNINGS OF UNHAPPINESS

bro , your marks are really good. Focus on the optionals gives us high aggregate. Essay and composition paper needs practice which we always ignore. Start writing a topic in your daily dairy. Once a senior told me that if we write an essay daily, it can never fail us.
