Check my precis and point out my mistaks and give advise
Make a precis of the following passage :
It is often said that literature is an index, indeed the principal index, of the soul of an age, and that to understand the spirit of any historical period, we should look first of all to the books that were being read by the people of the time. It is, however much too easy to suppose that the books we today value and associate with a particular period were valued in an equal degree by the writer`s contemporaries. In point of face, literary repute of the kind which ultimately establishes a work as a classic is very often of slow growth. John keat`s poem remained almost unknown to his own generation. It was only among the second generation after his dealth that his genius became widely recognized. It is important to remember that a great part of the reading done in any age is of the better books of a rather older generation. LITERATURE IS AN INDEX IN EVERY PERIOD It is thought that literature sustain its value in every period. We could experience that the literature people use in their time is according to their perception. Sometime some books which have no will in time become popular in later generation. It is point to be noted that doing batter is remain batter in every period |

Good Work I appreciate your work,,,, Furthermore, TITLE is not much attractive as it should be according to my conception.. & in the last line it shouldn't be "Point to be Noted" .... IN papers try to avoid these sentences you are attempting CSS papers & you should not instruct them what to do or what should be emphasized ..

Check my precis and point out my mistaks
We always think of cats in feminine, I suppose because they usually have kittens. And certainly the mother cat is the most lovable and human of all, a picture of softness and comfort and content. But apart from her lovely motherhood, the cat has many feminine virtues. She contrasts with the dog, whose virtues are masculine. Perhaps in nothing is she more feminine in her preference for the reality of a thing over its appearance. The dog pretends much more than the cat. He pretends he does not see the big dog across the road, or that he wants to fight; all the time he is dying for his mistress to call him off. He pretends he hates the stranger ringing the bell, and threatens him with all sorts of noises he never means to turn into action. The dog behaves courageously because the dislikes being laughed at, and thus gets credit for more courage than he really has; he bluffs to keep the enemy away. The cat does not put on an appearance of ferocity; she is not ashamed to show her fear and runs off when she can, reserving her courage till the last step in feminine desperation. Dog and man behave bravely because they think they ought, cat and women because they must. Dog and man display their courage, but are bravest when they cannot reach the enemy. Neither cat nor women makes her courage conspicuous; she keeps it for where danger is greatest.
Characteristics of Dog and cat The writer discriminate the characteristics of dog and cat. That cat has more feminine characteristics and dog has masculine traits. Dog make more excuse then cat and also express it that he is more faithful of his or her master. The dog behave courageously and usually hate from the stranger people while cat is afraid from the strangers and show his virtues on the movement without any shame the author took place the man and dog in one category and told that they behave courageously when the enemy is for away from them and place the woman and cat in same category that they show their competency according to the occasion |

My Very First Attempt- Requesting Your Comments!
Esteemed Seniors! Being one of the newest members of cssforum, I am pasting here my very first attempt of writing a precis. With your valuable suggestions, I hope it would become my first lesson for mastering this art. I have chosen a short paragraph to avoid taking too much of your time. Would be obliged for your favor.
Original: (150 words) Unemployment arises from a variety of causes. One that is always recurring, and of the effects of which, we have had a recent example, is the disorganization of industry resulting from a long war. This is a serious problem admitting no easy solution at the best of times. Again, there is unemployment which follows a marked diminution in the quantity of raw product, such as cotton: fewer hands are required in the mills and factories. We may call this cause “bad harvests.” Similar, but more serious, is the effect of changes in industry due to invention of machinery which does more work and requires fewer workers. And yet another serious cause is a strike or lock-out and this is more to be deplored because a stoppage is sometimes due to a very trivial matter – perhaps the fact that men are working half-an-hour longer than the regulations of their union permit. Precis: (47 words) Some Causes of Unemployment Of the various seeds which propagate unemployment, industrial collapse due to prolonged warfare is an oft-seen one. Other causes may include scarcity of raw material for industries, decreasing need of labor due to mechanization and petty administrative issues in the workforce leading to strike outs in industries.
