Hey,
My outline as far as I recall revolved around the following: A. Introduction 1. Defining the term global village a. Increased connectivity and interdependence 2. Thesis Statement Although states continue to feel animosity in their relationships with one another, rising regional alliances, trade agreements and technological contact has raised the benefits of mutual cooperation. In the Body of the essay I had 6-7 major arguments; I talked about regional agreements, my focus was on ASEAN, SAARC, EU and CPEC. Though I made a blunder in my essay and wrote that SAARC was a 6 member alliance I talked about how EU is the manifestation of the liberal dream [not my exact words] and was modeled on the premise that mutual cooperation would not lead to a total war. Then I talked about the effects of technology and how social media has led to cultural diffusion. Basically, that increased awareness regarding different people and different cultures all over the world has led to greater toleration for alien cultures. I also talked about transnational migration and educational scholarships; the Fullbright educational scholarship program focuses on Pakistani students serving as cultural ambassadors of Pakistan and it is not simply restricted to being a scholarship. Its objective is to bridge the cultural gap between US and Pakistan. The mobility of labor was another argument. Then I talked about a debate between assimilation and independence My focus was on France and how there is a xenophobic element in their society particularly towards the Islamic community. Moreover, I argued that there is inherent tension between assimilating communities and letting them pursue their own culture/religion. The French secular model and its relation with public expressions of religiosity. I also mentioned the Syrian refugee crisis and how different European countries are reacting to it. For example the radical right wing in Hungary is against refugee entry for fear that their way of life would be threatened particularly by Islam. The distinction that has been made between accepting non Muslim refugees vs. Muslim refugees. Germany on the other hand is welcoming refugees. I argued that the Syrian Refugee Crisis would truly reveal if we are a global world ready to live together. I also talked about Pakistan and India relations and argued how overtime the two nations have had a mutually hostile relationship infused with insecurity. They are trying to live together by realizing the importance of cooperation and geo political stability. I elaborated some more on this I don't remember exactly how. My conclusion argued that the world is tilting towards better communication and integration. For this is one of the ways in which an environment built on trust can arise. Regards
