Indeed nice effort. It is literary topic; approach to write essay should be literary not scientific.I think intellectuals are very different from scientists.They are broad thinkers, cross disciplinary,synthetic and their work is totally based on analogies they do not need any fact and data, but scientist do.There are many points you added in your outline like Newton's law of gravitation, nuclear weapons, invention of gadgets and others, which are not appropriate with your topic. I also find spiritual, religious, and esthetics aspects missing in your outline.

It will be good if you post your complete essay, as It will help to understand your points in much better way.

Well brother, I'd love to post the complete essay but it takes much time to do so and being a banker it's very difficult for me to manage time and type the whole essay.
