Essay on JIHAD

Asslamulaikum,

The most Important topic through out the world, and especially in Pakistan,is "JIHAD". I Have tried my level best to Write something on this Glorious Word..

It is not complete yet, comments, objections, Questions, and much much more are warmly welcomed, but at the end..

Remaining part will be pasted some other time.....

“JIHAD”

1) PRELUDE:

When I stare at twinkling stars, innocent moon, ravishing mountains and gordius beaches, when I idealize about this titanic universe I remember ALLAH. When I speak truth I spiritually live, when I speak lie I spiritually die, I don’t want to reveal the lie, because realities will never forgive me.

When so ever I see the retreated infidels, beheaded hypocrites, felicitous militants and the sacrificers in the cause of ALLAH, I repent and become grateful before ALLAH. The vastness of universe, complexity of the creation of organisms, organisms made of Unicellular to multi cellular, from the particles of sand to the peak of mountains, every thing compels me to say that “ ALLAH IS SUPREME”.

Commence in the name of supreme Lord who is the comfort of mind and the sight of my eyes, who has bestowed all his blessings on us that he has created us in the shape of Humans.

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

All praise is for Allah, the Lord of the Universe. May Allah bestow peace and blessings upon our Leader Muhammad (PBUH), Leader of those who strive in Allah's way and Imam of the pious? May He also bestow peace and blessings upon his family and his companions, and all those who strive for the Sharee’ah until the Day of Judgment?

2) ME AND MY CONSCIENCE:

My eyes throw bloody tears, my heart pulsates and it sometimes throbs as well, my mind goes gaga and I feel that I am mentally distressed, my lips are changed into critical condition, and whisper, my feet start trembling, the hair of my body erect, sweat glands are activated and I feel that I am completely steeped in sweat, my sense of thoughts stops functioning, at that time I can not discriminate between good and bad, right and wrong, vice and virtue.

In such a miserable circumstance only and only my conscience is alived; it motivates me and says, “You are coward, coward and coward”. I ask why? It replies do you deserve to be called a real supreme creature, I say yes, it castigates on my words and says “You live in fool’s paradise”. I look before my own door; I can not find any demerit in myself. I again ask, “What is wrong with me? It replies that it feels shy being the part of my soul.

I remain reticent because I can not get the beckon of my conscience. It itself cries and asks, “Where is your superiority of being a Muslim? I with open arms reply that I feel proud of being a Muslim. It laughs at me and says,” whom do you love the most? I say firstly my Lord ALLAH, then his PROPHET MOHAMMAD (PBUH).

It cries and asks, “If you love ALLAH ALMIGHTY, how many times have you obeyed the orders and commands of him. It keeps on Questioning and saying, if you Love ALLAH ALMIGHY, I will certify it but what about PROPHET MOHAMMAD (PBUH), “Do you resemble him in Morphology, shape, dress, creed and doctrine?

After listening such harsh words from my conscience I see my dirty face in mirror, the case looks vice versa. I remain silent, it keeps on asking the questions, that the caricature of HOLY PROPHET (PBUH) was made, did you do something? The Holy Qur’an was burnt, did you stop these infidels? A mine was put in the Holy Turban of HOLY PROPHET (PBUH), did you oppose it? Why have you forgotten the Holy Hadith of HOLY PROPHET (PBUH), which says; “You don not deserve to be called a Real Muslim until and unless you sacrifice your dearest thing for the sake of mine”. Blasphemous words were used against the HOLY PROPHET (PBUH), did you oppose it? And at last when it asks, “Have you ever made JIHAD? I eat humble pie and bow before my conscience just because of my cowardliness/ cowardice.

The mind shocking questions of my conscience makes me mad. Being a Muslim I ought to have given the answer of each and every question straightforwardly, but it is the weakness of mine that I am unable to face my own conscience, because we are steeped in ocean of Enlightened moderation, so called liberal, broad minded people.

3) WHO SHOULD TAKE THE COGNIZANCE?

The Muslims of Palestine, Chechnya, Bosnia, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq, indeed of whole world are suffering from the brutality, and ferocity of Jews, Christians and Hindus for the last six or seven decades. More than four decades they have passed in hoisting the corps of their children, women, youths and geezer hood people, burying them, seeing the undermining of their homes, Masjids, and fields.

They want to have just a single bird view eye of their motherland as an Independent Islamic state, but the dawn of new empowered era with out the unity of Muslims is just as crying far

4) JIHAD:

ALLAH ALMIGHTY has created the living organisms in abundant number, out of 18000 creatures ALLAH ALMIGHY has awarded the title of “Real Supreme Creatures” to only Humans. It is because of the thinking capacity; mind and wisdom.

ALLAH ALMIGHTY says in the Holy Qur’an, “I have created the Humans and jinnee but to worship me”. (Surah: Verse).

So one who testifies the oneness of ALLAH ALMIGHT, and the prophet hood of PROPHET MOHAMMAD (PBUH), he or she enters into the circle of Islam, a deen of peace, a deen of justice, a deen of tranquility, a deen of pious people, a deen of Muslims, a deen of 1 lakh 24 thousands Prophets ( peace be upon them), a deen of PROPHET MOHAMMAD (PBUH), and a deen of ALLAH ALMIGHTY, because ALLAHALMIGHY says in the Holy Qur’an, “ To me, the only acceptable deen is Deen Mubeen Islam”. (Surah: Verse).

After this testimony one is required to believe in Angels, believe in four divine books:

(1) PSALMBOOK/ ZABOOR
(2) OLD TESTAMENT/ TORAH
(3) BIBLE/ INJEEL
(4) FURQAAN/ QUR’AN)

Believe in Prophets; believe in the day of Resurrection, and the circumstance of goodness and badness are from ALLAH’S side, and to believe that after death I will be resurrected and Questioned by ALLAH ALMIGHTY.

After these doctrines one is required to fulfill the five pillars of Islam, i.e.

(1) Islamic Creed (Saying the above wordings).
(2) Offering five times prayer.
(3) Paying Alms (ZAKAAT).
(4) Observing Fast (Once in a year for 30 days).
(5) Pilgrimage (Hajj, once in whole Life).

And it is the faith of every Muslim that after death every Muslim is supposed to be questioned, no matter how much pious he/she is! So a question arises in the mind of every Muslim that is there any quickest or shortest displacement to paradise?

Off course, the shortest displacement to paradise is “JIHAD” only and only.

The tremendous word “JIHAD” has been derived from the word “JHED” “which means, to strive, to struggle, to try to the utmost of one’s power. Linguistically it means “for the imposition and highness of Deen mubeen Islam every kind of effort, sacrifice physical and spiritual power must be done practically. To the extent that we should sacrifice kith and kins, children, family, nation even one’s own life. To destroy the enemies of Islam, their efforts, their notions, their invasion and if needs a Muslim must go to the Battle field to fight against them.

The Muslim world today is faced with tyranny and injustice. Indeed oppression and hardship is not just limited to the Muslim world, rather many non-Muslim states are subject to oppression at the hands of the world’s leading military and economic powers. Anyone who cares can only be saddened and hurt by the pain and suffering that accompanies so many faces. Islam has allowed jihad as a means to prevent oppression, yet the Muslims have forgotten this for too long.
Though jihad may be a part of the answer to the problems of the ummah, it is an extremely important part. Jihad is to offer ourselves to Allah for His Cause. Indeed, every person should according to Islam prepare himself/herself for jihad and every person should eagerly and patiently wait for the day when Allah will call them to show their willingness to sacrifice their lives. We should all ask ourselves if there is a quicker way to heaven. It is with this in mind that this booklet is being published.

It may be asked of ourselves and others here as to why we remain in this country while there is so much opportunity for reward. It is our understanding that today’s problems does not require the one solution whether this be jihad, working for the khilafah, purifying ourselves etc. but rather our situation today requires action on all fronts. Everybody has a role to play in today’s great jigsaw, those who are attempting to establish the Islamic state have to continue doing so focusing their minds onto such a project, those who are faced with tyranny at the hands of neighboring armies have to defend themselves with their lives and those that have the opportunity of giving Islam to the world should do so..

Jihad is an obligation from Allah on every Muslim and cannot be ignored nor evaded. Allah has ascribed great importance to jihad and has made the reward of the martyrs and the fighters in His way a splendid one. Only those who have acted similarly and who have modeled themselves upon the martyrs in their performance of jihad can join them in this reward. Furthermore, Allah has specifically honored the Mujahideen with certain exceptional qualities, both spiritual and practical, to benefit them in this world and the next. Their pure blood is a symbol of victory in this world and the mark of success and felicity in the world to come.

Those who can only find excuses, however, have been warned of extremely dreadful punishments and Allah has described them with the most unfortunate of names. He has reprimanded them for their cowardice and lack of spirit, and castigated them for their weakness and truancy. In this world, they will be surrounded by dishonors and in the next they will be surrounded by the fire from which they shall not escape though they may possess much wealth. The weaknesses of abstention and evasion of jihad are regarded by Allah as one of the major sins, and one of the seven sins that guarantee failure.

Islam is concerned with the question of jihad and the drafting and the mobilization of the entire Umma into one body to defend the right cause with all its strength than any other ancient or modern system of living, whether religious or civil. The verses of the Qur'an and the Sunnah of Muhammad (PBUH) are overflowing with all these noble ideals and they summon people in general (with the most eloquent expression and the clearest exposition) to jihad, to warfare, to the armed forces, and all means of land and sea fighting.

I shall not go into exhaustive detail but rather will offer you some Qur'anic verses and Ahaadeeth below as examples since we only wish to show a glimpse of the Islamic message on jihad. Furthermore, we will not delve into the explanation of the Qur'anic verses or Ahaadeeth. You will recognize by the purity of language, the clarity of exposition, the lucidity of ideas and the force of spirituality that explanations and clarifications are not required.

KINDS OF JIHAD:

Jurists have distinguished four different ways in which the believer may fulfill his jihad obligation; by his heart, his tongue, his hands and by his sword. Following are kinds of jihad.

1) JIHAD BIN-NAFS:
2) JIHAD BIL- MAL
3) JIHAD BIL-QALAM
4) JIHAD BIL-SAIF.

1. When we talk about jihad bin-nafs, it means to prevent one’s own self of committing sins. The complete control over one’s ego leads a person near to ALLAH ALMIGHTY. It is concerned with defeating evil. This type of Jihad was so significant in the eyes of the HOLY PROPHET (PBUH) that he regarded it as the greater Jihad (Here keep it in mind that the above wordings are the interpretation of the Holy Hadeeth, and it is applicable only in peaceful circumstances, further explanation will come ahead). It is very clear that if someone overcomes his own nafs, then it is not a hard nut to crack to go and face the battlefield.
