As for as how to write an Essay is concerned.
First of All
Fully understand the Title,Try to understand the scope of the title that how much wider , general it is, and what and what is included in it for example if title is "Extremism In Pakistan" So its main scope is Pakistan although You need to Talk about outer world but main focus should be Pakistan, and if title is "Extremism" then its scope is universal, u need to discuss it from every angle. so deciding about its scope is very important
After having decided the scope consume some time for brain storming. think about important points. mostly they include, background, history of title, causes, effects. features, pros, cons, measures to solve, to which areas, or in which place or in which community, social class its prevalent and why so.What various people think about this, what are other's point of views about that. who are to promote that, who are against that, reasons for that. in short all related things to that.
Now arrange all that in some chronological and logical sequence, which should be coherent, step by step
so by this you can write an outline, but be careful here, outline is the backbone of your essay, so try to make it strong, means by order and importance.
Start with very good points, take a strong start.expand it further.and the end points should be conclusive, decisive, very clear

having sketched a strong outline
Write the essay based on it.Try to follow the outline but if while writing the essay some good and strong point hits your mind do write about that as well.

The above technique is for whatever knowledge you have in you mind, and for improving you knowledge you need to read news and articles, discussions, good books, features, editorials, should have good analytical, critical, investigating techniques about everything. try to go deep of any issue as much as you can.

This is how i think to write any essay. May be some one else has some other approach, slightly or greatly different from mine.
Your can also check the guidelines provided in essay section

and about vocabulary. do get a standard electronic dictionary like Encarta or any other and also some hard copy of good dictionary like oxford Cambridge, may be English to English and English to Urdu dictionary also helps you well for that.
now wherever you read any word whose meanings you don't know check it in dictionary and repeat it 2-3 times, you can also copy and paste these words meanings from electronic dictionary in a word file for future usage and fully remembering it, This is the technique I use, and it is helping me.

Read English newspapers or magazines. Circle the new words and write them on a separate page. Later on find the meanings of the words with synonyms. Practice makes perfect. Keep this practice continue for months. Secondly, cram the noted words daily and use them in your writings. I did this practice for 2 to 3 hours daily and still I collect new words and memorize them.
