Education is a process of remaking experience, giving it a more socialised value through increased individual experience, by giving the individual better control over his own powers. Education is defined as a tool which produces reforms in human conducts and understandings. It teaches norms and values to make peoples’ existence in a society comfortable. When French people divided society in two types; barbarian society and civilised society. Education played a standard role to decide about a society’s being civilised. Pestalozi defined education in succeeding words:- Education means a natural, progressive and systemic development of all the powers. Education homes innovative ideas. In a collective society education fosters peace and harmony between conflicting opinions. Such as philosophers solved an issue, raised for charity during King Caesar. The conflict was between Church and secular government. People asked about real deserving institute for economic support. Mathew, Mark and Luke collectively replied; Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and unto God the things that are God’s. Education broadens views and mental capabilities. Children rights can best be served if education is not used as political institution. Education is a process of reforming. Socrates stated that The aim of education is to dispel error and discover truth. Patriotism and nationalism will not hold weight. A person comes out of old traditional belief. In Plato’s Utopia education was prerequisite for guardian class. Education produced good guardians. The power of education in forming character and opinion is very great and very generally recognized. Aristotle believed that education is for love of mental adventure. Generally education is assigned a purpose; among those bread earning is highly famous. Originally education instills new ideas either those are of Philosophy or Astronomy. Education nourishes mind and makes it rational. It makes a person humble and nearer to God. Albert Einstein accepted the truth in following words The more I go closer to science the more I go closer to nature. Brain turns to be able to think vast and remains alert. Reading has its own pleasure. A recent research proved that people who read more have less chances of diseases such as heart problem, blood pressure and brain hamraige . In another research by a group of Psychiatrists revealed that people who read books are very less prone to anxiety. Education brings revolution, triumph in human habits and social shinning. In a nutshell education aims at creation of healthy mind in a healthy body living in a civilized society being part of peaceful world. An individual who possess knowledge or is literate of social, physical or biological science has wonders in one’s mind. Sir Isaac Newton, who is famous for his law of gravitation, was instrumental in the scientific revolution of 17th century. His brain was holder of different disciplines. He had knowledge of Astronomy, Physics, Mathematics and Philosophy. He could imagine the movement of the moon and stars. Sir Isaac Newton could also sort of high emperise about falling apple. Fascinating imagination is always in part of such great individuals. Furthermore education designs neurons to withhold information in form of multifariousness. Psychologists revealed that reading and memorising things augment power of brain for good memory. Aristotle believed that education was for love of mental adventure. Education introduces new ideas and opinions in one’s mind. Simply it broadens one’s ideas and brings maturity. Francis Bacon argues Education serves for delight, for ornament and for ability. Bacon further illustrates that education perfect one’s nature. Reading makes a full man. A full man here doesn’t stand just in a limited circle that define a particular trait or quality. It can be a man of sound judgement who knows difference between right and wrong. A man who is capable of thinking out of box without being circled by dogma, creed or prescribed norms and customs. This all comes in capacity of mental adventurism. Bertrand Russell termed present portfolio of education as a tool of political institution. It harbors ethnocentrism, ideological racism, fanaticism and bigotry. Harmony and tranquility are pulled out of neutral pupils. Their mental ability is caged with chains of nationalism, xenophobia and particular religious conviction. Henceforth while discussing difference between education of a philosopher and professional Plato discussed that wisdom served purpose of education better. Knowledge of any particular discipline within limited scope is dangerous. Knowledge is translated with precise meanings whereas wisdom is not product of a set syllabus. Wisdom leads to diversity and thinking. It inculcates imaginary activities. Wisdom set revolutions within waves of brain. It brings discoveries and inventions. A person’s power of reasoning and consciousness are directly linked to his/her level of education. A myth about education dominates a big lot of masses. People understand bare purpose of education. Earning bread is only concept attached with purpose of education. Scope of purpose of the education had been circled in limited boundaries. People get education for good earning. Perhaps henceforth social sciences and arts are discouraged whereas medical or engineering studies are preferred. Originally purpose of education is advancement cognitively and exploration of hidden laws of nature. Pious and wise men, religious or of worldly affairs, put great emphasize on education as a tool of innovation and revolution. Religion forces human beings to get education. Famous hadith of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him) Get education from cradle to grave Acquiring knowledge is mandatory on all Muslims be it male or female. Further more practical actions of Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him rest more importance on education. Once Holy Prophet Peace and blessings be upon him entered the Mosque before the prayer time. He found two groups in the Mosque. One group was busy with its own act of worship; some were reading the Holy Qur’an while the others were supplicating. The other group was in a corner busy learning. They learnt how to read and write and discussed the teachings of Islam and their application to their daily lives. Looking at both, the Holy Prophet Peace and Blessings be upon him said: “They are both engaged in useful pursuits. But I am a teacher. I shall join the group assembled to learn.” So he (S.A.W) sat with the group of students. This emphasize on acquiring education is not only for bread earning. In Quran the Exalted promises to His creatures that He would feed all. Hence religion desires individuals to get education for benefit of other fellow beings and discovering laws of nature. Purpose of education is nourishing brain rather than earning bread. Its usefulness is in inheriting ideas, opinions and belief. Its purpose is to make individuals land in world of discoveries. When people turn towards acquiring knowledge they are less available for unnecessary activities. Men of science usually don’t attend ceremonies and get together. But their rare appearances gets one glimpses of mysterious work such as only few living people can understand that. Purpose of education is bringing prosperity and gifts good behavior. Education is genesis for reforming human conduct. Education teaches patience, sympathy and gives a sense of human destiny. It shapes a child’s behavior from very early age. Hence generally people believe that home and school train a person. Education teaches discipline and let one know value of time. Bertrand Russell stated in his book Education And The Social Order that Education teaches moral maxims, habits of industry and a stock of knowledge. Educations brings self-discipline and social conformity. Education makes humble and obedient. Educations serves all ages. Some people miss formal education in childhood but later they are educated to be masters of good conduct. Probably psychologists call it in terms of Pavlov as conditions yet it serves the purpose. Furthermore generally it is believed that Obedience is parcel of men of wisdom. Socrates had been popular among masses because of his knowledge and humbleness. His pupil wanted to either confront with government or die along with Socrates because of his frankness towards them. Education also halts conflicting ideas among different opinions. It brings harmony among different sects and ideologies. Literate people are less prone to war. They value human dignity and respect. This idea works when education is not used as a political institution and where greed is a forgotten notion. Literate people are tolerant as well. They can compromise on their points. Two types are people live in every society; orthodox and moderate. Orthodox people get informal education and are less welcoming to new ideas and opinions. Bertrand Russell extended this opinion that he wrote; Anarchic system should prevail in education and standards should be set there will be no chances of war. The more a person studies the more boldness and maturity comes in one’s ideas and thoughts. Analytical skills work if one has diversity of alternatives for a certain problems exist. Neuro specialists claim that reading and memorizing enhance workability and strengthen neurons. Philosophers preserve that education is science of psychological dynamics. Betrand Russell in his book In Praise Of Idleness wrote that On intellectual part of education it holds general knowledge, technological skills and a habit of forming opinions on evidence. Education leads to light and end ignorance. In this regard Will Durant described education in following words; Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance. Education illuminates thoughts and make brain thinkable. Men have the most developed brains. Their ability to learn, to use the acquired knowledge and to prosper is unmatched. Education made brain to discover fire, live in caves and pent the walls and build pyramids of Egypt. It was education that made Newton to ponder over a falling apple. Education also works for contemporary purpose. Education played significant role in evolution of society from Hunting and Gathering Society to Post Industrial Society and present era of technology. People had adopted thoughts of living in a different style forced by discovery of certain instruments. They stopped hunting and gathering society and gradually transferred to Pastoral Society. Later with lapse of time when they started thinking more with passing hard circumstances they came through Horticultural Society, Agriculture Society, Industrial Society and then Post Industrial Society. This transformation would have not been possible until those people had learnt speaking, thinking and discovering. History is pregnant with facts that nations which kept on working on education they promoted beyond the borders. Expansion of early Islamic Civilization and Colonial Era are just two examples in this regard. India worked on technology and education she is in race to compete her rival China. In 1940s people of US were highly educated and were spending the highest living standard. They were sole possessor of Nuclear Arsenal’s technology. Later on they turned to be Super Power of the world. Scholars of International Relations count education in important factors of soft and intangible power. Education is Civilization. Bertrand Russell. Education keeps culture alive by guarding norms and values. It transfers laws of traditional living from predecessor generations to successor. It preserve folkways and customs in its orbit. Learning language, wearing particular dresses and cooking of traditional foods are gift of purpose of education in society. Scientific discoveries and innovations are another part of contemporary purpose of education. Education always leads to light. Once Albert Einstein was sitting at his desk in Patent office at Bern and was going gazing out of his window and performed his famous mind experiment. Education helps in scientific developments. Purpose of education is to make human life luxurious by inventing items ranging from motor engines, smart mobile phones, aeroplanes to drones and many weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear bombs e.g hydrogen bombs or Atom bombs. Invention of weapons in view of realist theorists of international relations is only for keeping human nature in order and for a notion known as balance of power. Interdependence among states in new world order either for trade or purposes are real aims of education. Education aims at bringing international brotherhood to generate possible ways of promoting trade and culture. One silk belt road obviously will play role of sharing similar thoughts among different nations of the world. Tourism also plays its role in this regard. In politics education serves in the form to let people know about their basic rights and promote a form of government which serves their needs. As aforementioned tolerance is gift of knowledge. It brings better form of living style. Conclusion Purpose and meaning of education is to illuminate human thoughts, endurance of good manners and comfort to human beings with the help of scientific inventions, biological discoveries and technological innovations. Its purpose has been served only as political institution. It is either used for patriotism, nationalism or religious motives hence loopholes can be seen. If freedom is given to education it will bring peace and harmony among nations and prosperity and well being to humanity. |

Great effort. I just loved the way you added quotes and sayings in your writing. Few suggestions from my side:
1- You used word education averagely in your every line. It is not recommended, as It breaks concentration while reading your article.(84) 2- Missing analogical arguments, regarding types of education. for example reason and purpose of religious education is different from science education. 3- You need to work on your outline structure. |
