Short Qs
All 2007 serious aspirants are invited here.
Different Seasons: We are experiencing different seasons because the Earth’s axis is tilted by 23.5 degree compared to its orbit; when the Earth revolves and rotate at the same time around the sun, this tilt allows some parts of the earth experience more sun light and some parts less. Stronger the tilt the bigger the season We always see the same side of Moon: The rate at which the moon rotate ( spins) at its own axis And the rate at which it revolves around the Earth is equal, therefore we always get to see the same side of the moon . In 1959, Soviet sent an aircraft to the space and sent us pictures of the other side of the moon. Earth’s gravity holding the rotation of the moon .Moon does the same thing and tries to slow down the rotation of the earth. *The Rotation of the Earth slows by 0.002 sec / century *The size of Moon’s orbit is getting larger by 4 cm/ yr In the future we won’t be able to see a Total eclipse because the moon is getting further away each year by 4 cm. |
