While attempting a question n quoting relevant Ayats is it necessary to give verse number or merely chapter number is enough?

well,it is not mandatory to write verse num or chapter etc..
it will bring positive and appreciable effect,if you are mentioning verse num.
but if you r quoting any verse,you should use original words.

Mohsin it is not necessary to quote exact ayat number or surah number, but if you writes ayat and surah numbers thn it will add up to your credit and off course will fetch good marks.

there is a way round to it....just write Al-Quran "Say!......." that shall be enough....and if you use numbers that great....but atleast i shall not b able to recall numbers back there in the exam..!!!

It is too late to reply you, but I understood to guide you. Brother, your question is just like in that way for example if you invite your some closed or best friends on a lunch or dinner in a five-star or reputed hotel, where following manners should be considered:-

1. The way you enter in hotel with your friends count much as at first glance.
2. The way you prefer the area from where you all have to be together.
3. The way you call the waiter through your gesture or some words (whether polite way or rude way).
4. The way or manner you all eat the meal.
5. The way whether you give some tip to the waiter or not, etc. etc.

So, all these ways or manners count as much as up to the level of the hotel. Similarly, if you quote any Qur'Aani verse then it would be in a best way if you also provide the Chapter as well as the verse number.

css is a competitive exam,you have to do everything which can give you good marks,though its not necessary to write verse number or chapter number while quoting the relevant Ayats,yet if you can do such thing,then you will gain more marks than other aspirants.
