Default Is it necessary to write ayat number?

While quote an ayah is it necessary to write ayat number or only the name of the SUrah will do?

Check these two threads:

How to present the Ayats and Hadiths?
Is it necessary to give verse number or chapter number is enough?

The best way is to mention exact reference/ayah number; however, during exam it happens that one forgets the exact ayah number. In such circumstances, give the Surah name. Even if you forget Surah name, just write "the Holy Quran enjoins/ordains", etc, but in worst case scenario.

I advise you to separate & note down verses related to major topics usually common in Islamiat paper such as Terrorism, Women, Jihad, etc. Memorize them from time to time. It will help you during 2 hour break before Islamiat paper for revision.

Not at all. just write that Holy Quran says and then mention the ayah. No need to write the ayah number. If you can write then try to be accurate

@ Arif awan

yes mussa is right. One must mention ayat number only if he/she is sure about it.

@ humble humanbeing

Make sure that you have mentioned relevant and accurate ayats according to the topic. In islamiat paper, your critical reasoning matters alot regarding critical issues. Try to be moderate, avoid extremism, collaborate things along with solid and authentic references but your own conclusion is main thing at the end of each question.it shows your mind set and your approach towards islamic issues.
