Smile Objective Resolution & its importance

Objective Resolution & its Importance

Objective Resolution was first Constitutional document for foundation of ‘Constitutional development in Pakistan’. It paved a way for constitutional development in Pakistan . It also put a concept about constitution before legislators. It was first represented by Liaqat Ali Khan ,then Prime Minister of Pakistan in April 1949.

Constitutional Assembly (1947-1954) :-
First constitutional assembly was founded by Indian Independence Act 1947. Members of legislative assembly were selected by election in 1946 . At first , these were 69 members. But after joining different states in Pakistan it increased to 79. Constitutional assembly was consists of Muslim League and Congress Members.

Features of Objective Resolution :-
Some features of Objective resolution are ;
• Sovereignty over all the world is only of Allah Almighty.
• Allah gave right to the people of Pakistan to administer His authority within limits described by Him.
• People of Pakistan are bound to the rules defined by Allah in order to exercise their authority.
• Muslims are independent to live their life according to Quran and Sunnah.
• Minorities are free to live their according to their religion and will.
• Its responsibility of Pakistan state to protect rights of minorities and its people.
• People is sovereign state and independent to make its relations with rest of the world.
• Pakistan is sovereign to protect its territory.

Explanation and Importance:-
Objective resolution declared Allah Almighty sovereign of the universe. While in Western democracy , sovereignty is in the hands of people. It also declares that people use authority given by Allah within limits defined. Muslims are free to live according to their Quran and Sunnah. Minorities are also free to live according to their religion.

Objection by Minorities :-
Minorities objected that there should be difference between state and religion it mixed both of them. They also objected on sovereignty of Allah and rights to minorities. But leaders of AIM are also not so religious. So, they changed it into Sovereignty of Allah with mixture of West Democracy.

But until now Objective resolution has very importance in Constitution of Pakistan . Because it declares sovereignty of Allah , which is true objective of ‘Islamic Republic of Pakistan’ and demands of million Muslims , who sacrificed their lives for it.

Default Minorities Rights

In the light of Quaid e Azam's 11 August 1947 speech, 'objective resolution' contradict the very basic idea of 'Quaid's version of constitution'. As the speech was,
“You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed - that has nothing to do with the business of the State...We are starting with this fundamental principle that we are all citizens and equal citizens of one State...I think we should keep that in front of us as our ideal and you will find that in due course Hindus would cease to be Hindus and Muslims would cease to be Muslims, not in the religious sense, because that is the personal faith of each individual, but in the political sense as citizens of the State.”

Furthermore, the state established by Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) after migration, should be the guiding light for Muslims, as there was no concept of minority there. Now days minorities in Pakistan are not entertaining the rights as of Muslims, which blocks the universality of Islam. Many Hindus in sub continent converted to Muslims by the alluring idea of equality, catered by Islam, which is alarmingly extinct now.
