Default Narrow down books

Ok so generally people suggest rabbani and trek to pakistan , but the official syllabus doesnt have these books at all ? One cannot read all the 15 16 books listed in the suggested readings, so how do we select what books to read ?

Treck to Pakistan is very lengthy it is for indo pak history subject
Prepare first 4 to 5 chapters from ikram rabani
Foreign policy of Pakistan by Abdul star is good for pak affairs
