When you are going to explain discipleship then you must explain their origin .

There are four :
1. Silsala naqshbandia
2.silsala chistia
3.Silsala sehrwadia
4.silsala qadriya

These four had been originated by four caliphs /khulfa-e-Rashdeen(R.A) ...
I will add one comment : The disciples of chistia focused to spread Islam by peaceful means which converted millions of Hindus ... But it led towards religious amalgamation because they spread more on common social norms to attract Hindus either by poetry or by music; whereas Naqshapandia disciples stirred puritanical approach . Hazrat Mujadid Alf Sani(R.A) was leader of that silsala in IndoPak where as Silsala sehrwardia aimed to mix with kings , princes and nobles of their age unlike the disciples of silsal chistia ; leader of that movement was Hazrat kwhaja moin-ud-din chisti (R.A)
