Default Evolution of Muslim society

I require the guidance of the senior members concerning a frequently posed question in pak affairs about the evolution or rise and fall of the muslim society. What would be a suitable outline?

Rise and fall of muslim society in sub-continent:

Although it encompasses the whole time period i-e from 7th and 8th century where the first notable muslim contacts with the indians can be traced till 17th and 18th centuries which saw the sun of muslim rule slowly setting on indian horizon, the answer to the question should more importantly focus on following few heads:

1) Early contacts of muslims with india--(trade etc) along the coasts in the south india
2) Political conquests paving the way for muslim rule which in turn brings us to the third point which is;
3) Muslim society that involves the social implications of political, economic and religious policies of the rulers, sufis, ulemas, historians, poets, proselytizing, immigration etc
4) Muslim rule at its zenith during the Mughal rule and the contribution its political, economic and religious policies made to the strenghthening or weakening of muslim society in sub-continent. This also includes the din-i-illahi v/s sirhindi school and dara-shikoh v/s aurangzaib
5) Fall: aurangzaib and its aftermath with some efforts at the revival made by shah walliullah, syed ahmed shaheed and other peasant uprisings.

I know, this is virtually the course outline of indo-pak 1, but the fact is that the question encompasses all that period. However, the answer has to be the snap-shot of the period thereof with emphasis on the more notable events in the time-line.
