aoa!
got you very well for my first query i too got what you meant to advise ,me regarding multiple books and quotes.but, being very humble, you seem to lack understanding my ''actual'' confusions....i wana elaborate 'em again my frst que 1-i use the bookish material in making notes of pak affairs topics, mostly extracted from my main book and other refernce books which i search for my topic on google books.my query is,as i indite most of the book material in my notes, does it give a ''clumsy'',or''rot'' impression to the examiner if i will reproduce in my examz? 2-from very these books from which i use to make notes, the sentences which i find worth noticing for examiner write them in bold as you mentioned within quotation marks.my question here is,how come i gonna remmeber the writers names while quoting the excerpts? |

Extracting and citing wording from the books will not give your answer a clumsy or rot impression but again the citation should be relevant and your answer should not appear as a collection of abstract quotations from various book!! I think giving 4~5 times such wording in a question are more then enough. Take it as an upper limit for citing.
Answer to Second question should be given by yourself that how much you can retain. Initially every word and every comment from a foreign writer appealed to me very much, later i realized the same problem same as that of yours. I used to memorize the wording that could be used on more then one place, were simple in wordings and were more concrete and less vague. Same I would recommend to you. Going for long, wordy and less relevant wording will make it difficult for you to memorize the wording itself, remembering the name of writer will be out of question in such a case. If still unclear feel free to ask again.

People do not sound duffer when they ask question, they do so when they do not follow "the advice" .
The examiners who check the papers are often very highly qualified subject specialist, they have read so many of books on the same topic that we can "presume" their familiarity with your "wording and writer names" and if for the sake for wanting the anxiety within a candidate, the examiner don't know the exact wording he may consult a book that is being refereed to in your answer. But my opinion is that they are so much experience and learned that they will not need to do this. Be Happy. They do learn while checking hundred of copies of the same subject every year. Do not worry about what is the duty of Examiner, do your part of the work. Best of Luck.

well, tempted to jump in the discussion.
rightly noted by the members, the two questions are quite different. The answer to the evolution question would start off at the seams of MBQ's conquest but would largely encompass the period of Delhi sultanate. It was in tht period that the muslim society largely emerged and evolved. By the time, Mughals came at the helm in India, the Muslim society had already emerged and taken a definite form. Yes the prominent role was played by the sufis and saints. Besides, the ulemas and of course the sultans themselves had important role to play in the evolution of Muslim society. During the Mughals, the Muslim society went through the process of indianisation and later the pendulum swung to another xtreme which ended up making the muslim society a more orthodox and less inclusive and thus bringing the muslim society closer to the way it stood in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Muslim nationalism, on the other hand, is a direct outcome of the loss of Muslim power and supremacy in the wake of the fall of Mughal empire. Loss of power was accompanied by social and economic degeneration of Muslims. Moreover, it also coincided with rise of marathas, sikhs and the advent of europeans. All these developments led to an acute sense of insecurity among muslims and helped grow Muslim nationalism.

Its good to know that your query has been resolved!!!
How much time it should take depends also on how much you need to prepared. If you have a background of Arts then normally they study subjects like Pak-Affairs, Civics, Economics etc they have background of subjects from Arts. If you belong to science or commerce then you need not to waste so much time on one subject. To conclude prepare a plan for the entire year and leave time for attempting past year papers and revision. Lets say that now start with Pakistan Affairs, study till May of the next year to finish your first round of preparation then give three months to attempt past year papers and rest for the full time revision. Make a time table it will benefit you.

Its up to you how much time did you take to complete the studies, but let me warn you as that was my experience, if i plan for November, I will be ending up in December or even late and that is a fact. So Plan for May or June and you will land some where in August or September that will give you just enough time to revise.
I appeared in 2010 Exam and got stuck in Islamiat and never failed in any other subject, appeared again in 2011 and waiting for result, me never shy of shareing my DMC you can find it here. Email address i will add to my profile.
