I have done CA, so I opted for accounting and Mercantile Law as two of optional subjects. my detailed mark sheet is still unnown to me. but as a matter of fact i appeared in the paper even without opening the book once as i had only 87 days to prepare because i had to appear in my CA Module F exam in December 2007.
Yes! marks between 150-160 are very much possible if someone prepares really hard and has an accounting back ground. Remember there is a lot of theory based questions as well, where candidates lose marks due to question's theoratical nature. Once result is announced i'll hare my accounting marks with you |

If someone has an accounting backgroud, he can easily score 160 plus marks in this paper (depends on how much grip you have on this subject). For discursive portion of the paper, the questions are not too tough when compared with those of CA and ACCA. So, if you have an accounting backgroud I shall highly recommend this paper as it can fetch you excellent marks.
Red. Hawk will agree to me on this point that if you go through the past papers of this paper, discursive portion is what we generaly study in earlier papers of CA & ACCA. It is not something very technical or strategic level questions. For your information, Mr. Fida Hussain Shah (CE 2006 topper) secured 175 marks in this paper. Though he was only CA inter. Regards

@Red Hawk..
@Omer Thanx for ur valuable sharing.. i have done B.com in 2003 so i am out of practice since long .. i secured 88% in B.com 1 Accounting paper... 52% in Advance Accounting and 90% in Cost Accounting paper.. but it was years ago .. i havny touched anything regarding accounting since june 2003... thats y i was reluctant to chose it as a subject .. secondly a friend of mine who has probably completed his ACMA made me sure that CSS Accounting is only the game for CA, ACMA and ACCa fellows.. there is nothing for B.comers in the Accounting... that shook my confidence which was already lessening every minute... so please brothers tell me what should i do.. I personally feel that if i prepare this subject even an average attempt can give me 100 to 120 marks on the other hand we can score same in a theoratical paper with a good attempt.. and please share the marks as early as possible ... |

Go for this paper. I personally feel that if i prepare this subject even an average attempt can give me 100 to 120 marks on the other hand we can score same in a theoratical paper with a good attempt Nice analysis dear. You can easily score around 120 which is compatible with other papers attempted- with excellent preparation. Don't think it as the legacy of CA/ACCA/ACMA/CAT students. I think the caliber of paper is of B.Com level and BBA/B.Com holders can attempt on the same frequency which the examiner requires. CAs study these subjects on advance level which is not required in CSS paper. If they apply their advance level approach they can hardly score the best. Because paper is checked by the Univeristy level teachers (who teach B.Com/M.Com/MBA subjects). Mr. Fida Hussain didn't revise his accounting from Shukla, Gupta or other advance books rather he decreased his level to M.A. Ghani, Petiwala books in order to catch the frequency of examiner in CSS. Red.Hawk is invited to share his tips for accountancy and auditing.................................. |

Accounting is not the game of CA/ACCA
Hi everybody, Irfan Arshad here. I was just going through these comments about the accounting for CSS exam. Realy good information. I have done MBA in Finance and have decided to opt Accounting in CSS 2010. I beleive that I may secure above 150 marks. I do not not have full grip on Accounting but even then I am sure because i beleive hat it is a game of spirit, hard work and will power. So do not even think about it that only CA/ACMA people are capable of it. We can and we will. Thanx
