I wrote on the same topic... I think the blunder I made was that i didn't make outline... and this time they explicitly asked to make an outline... I got 33. If I had passed this... My total score would have been 738

I did make outline. But i only prepared essay for 1 day. I work in bank so u can understand. Bur outline was not comprehensive. I want to share with u that one should leave space for outline then write ur essay and then prepare outline. BCOZ essay does not come simple it have sum complications. When u start writing then it come into ur mind. Writing outline before writing essay is a blunder

I think trying to be smart makes one fail in essay..i may be wrong....

I wrote very simple essay. No idioms no tough words. This is not the case

'The world politics stands more derisive than it was ever before due to the specific imperialist designs'.ths ws my topic i didnt draw outline and wrote about 2000 to 2200 words. secured 35 marks.
reson for failure ws lack of coherence and sequence in the arguments in essay although my arguements were strong bt i knew that i d fail bcz of the above mentioned reason. 2ndly i never prepared essay before hand, i had decided tht i would do it in the exam center. call it my over confidence yet i knew all abt the topic, but the material could nt be organized in a squence. i m haapy no regrets bt many lessons. it ws my first attempt

My Topic: Pakistan is rich in natural resources but poor in their management.

Marks Obtained: 33

Analysis:

I'm happy with my score because of the patent fact that i missed out getting information about our natural resources. I just missed it. So, what have i written in the essay then? Nothing to be frank. I didn't mention any human resource, water resources, forests, and not even enough minerals.

The only thing i mentioned was coal. Somehow i watched it on T.V that we've some 15 trillion dollars worth coal underneath thar or somewhere.

Why am i happy then? In every essay i believe that mostly TWO MAJOR things are required by the examiner. Relevant Information and Good Writing Style/Technique. As far as information is concerned i would rate my essay ZERO. I guess it's my writing that i managed to score 33. Had i touched every or even some of the aspects, i would have easily passed essay paper.
Anyway it was my first try, I think I've accomplished what I was looking for and that is experience. Next time that is in 2012, I'll come back very strong INSHALLAH.
