my friend told me that an officer visit his home and had a general discussion with him, beside that they check your record to ensure a person is not remained involve in any criminal activity etc.

what kind of investigation they do in case of female candidates...do they meet them personally ???

There is no exclusive or separate criteria for the security clearance of female candidates...they can or can't meet the candidates personally,there is no set principle of investigation, it is on their discretion, they can change the methodology of security clearance each year.
