Dear all,

Since most of us are complaining that what we got in essay and PnC is not what we deserve and i totally agree that one person can rate himself higher than his capabilitiesbut not all so why dont we do something about it? No panics, no nothing : just a mere application to the secretary sahab to please look into it, do something that the system becomes transparent, increase the number of paper checkers of english and dont depend on one person even though increase the registration fee by 500/1000. this way, at least we all will know that theres some transparency in this system. Or at the very least, device a marking plan so that one is contend with his efforts after looking at the key or ANY such thing which is a step towards making it more transparent?

Guys, please keep it in mind that eventually, one of the failing lot will have to do something about it because honestly, we aint the first ones who have witnessed such a fate. there were/are/will be many like us who will fall prey to such injutice. So why not in a very polite and reasonable manner, write some applications to the secretary and if possible to the chairman sahab, to do something about it, something, anything, that they deem possible and feasible so that the system becomes more transparent and everyone who objects to his/her marks becomes content with them?

Please suggest what should be done?
we can even start by trying to contact the secretary sahab through emails/letters/calls anything.

guys is there no one here who thinks the way i think? or should we just keep on sitting, crying and whinning about our essays and P&C? it wont take protests, strikes or any such things and i know that i for one can not make a change alone.
Dont you all think that in the coming attempts, if anyone has any left, this will all be forgotten and you wont have to face this issue again? or u just dont want to chnage this and find excuses for not getting through?
come one friends lets do something. i know there are many of us who have been wronged and injustice has been done to them but does that mean we just keep sitting? a mere letter to the secretary/chairman or if anyone happens to know any newspaper wala, can prove beneficial and might change our destiny.
Because if some one says to me u go ahead and then we will see, be assured brothers and sisters that i alone can not make change. it is US who can change that, not i. so please, if you feel something is wrong here, why dont make a move now.
Simply put, if you spend another year working hard, score 720+ and fail in essay again by 4 5 marks, how will you feel?
If you feel i am right, then we should and we need to do something.

Kind regards,

It would be great if FPSC can somehow develop a system of communicating the remarks of examiners to the candidates. i mean that feedback would be EXTREMELY helpful for their subsequent attempts.

i know it would be very time consuming to that for 10,000 or so candidates..but if all the possible causes of failure are printed on the front of answer sheets then examiner would just have to tick the relevant ones.voilą !

Kind regards,

I absolutely agree with you and this approach.

We should request that the Essay and precis/composition papers be re-evaluated by an independent body. They can even outsource the checking to the British Council authorized examiners (such as those that check papers that UK boards hold).

Since this is a British devised and created system, surely the FPSC will acknowledge that they know a thing or two about checking English language papers.

With its continuous behaviour of ignoring that there are issues the FPSC is simply heading towards a situation similar to that experienced by the FSc boards. Someone needs to make those old men realize that should anything untoward happen, and with the usual media fiasco that follows, not only will the FPSC's name dragged through the mud but also that it will forever be remembered that the institutions name was destroyed during the tenure of whosoever is in charge at that time.

The FPSC is not fooling anyone by thinking that people will never realize that in most if not all cases, they keep the passing percentage below 10%.

Any ideas how to go about doing this?

this is the best way to raise grievances of failures.apart from this, inadequate and inappropriate assessment criteria particularly of essay and composition should be discussed in the application.moreover, the prevalent scoring trend has also affected future of thousands of competent students.hence, stern measures should also be suggested in the application.my best wishes are with all of you.
NOTE: copy of application should also be directed to all higher authorities such as President, Prime minister, Chairman fpsc, and establishment and parliament Secretaries so that application may not easily be thrown in the dustbin.

best regards,

Good to know that there are a few like minded people around. I appreciate and respect what has been said above by each one of you. Really!

But what bothers me is that why would you want to be a part of the system you do not approve of?

friends, we need to start writing the letters and represent our concerns to the people concerned. we dont want to create a mob or act like immatures but voicing our concerns is our right and we should.

workaholic brother, i would have agreed with u any other day but at this point in time, its a matter of our motherland and i think al of us should stand united for the improvement of this system, not just let it run as it is.

i dont mean to say that i or any one else can make it but because of this criterion, a lot of good people are barred from being a part of the bureaucracy, which is not good for the country.
