4%
I wonder why nobody is paying attention to the fact that 4% quota means 9 seats, not just 7...!!!

Sohail:
I'm sorry but no one can help you in this regard. And as far as top groups for women are concerned, for ED all the group are the same: BPS 17. That's us who make one group more preferred over others. So, the perplexing issue is the break up. How could they give 2 seats to women out of 7? That is 28%, not 10% of the Total number of seats allocated to GBFaTa. Amber: It's because total number of fresh seats is 198. The rest ie 49 seats are carried over from previous years. GBFATA has no share in carried over seats of quota of other provinces/territories. So 4% of 198 is 7.92, which the mighty ED couldn't round to 8. However, they compensated this rounding in case of women seats in GBFATA. 10% of 7= 0.7 was rounded to 2.0. Know what, PSP had been my last option..but obviously, something is better than nothing...so will be more than happy to get allocated even if to PSP... But to be honest, chances are very rare and therefore, I'm keeping my expectations very low.. Anyways, how about you? Which group do u expect to get? |

Comp engr:
There is 7.5% open merit quota in over all Pakistan allocations. Besides that every province/ territory has its own reserved quota eg panjab's quota is 50%, KP quota is 11.5% , for GBFATA , it is 4%. Then in each provincial quota, 10% seats are reserved for women and I guess 5% for minorities. So if total seats announced for year 2014 are 200. Panjab will have 50% seats ie 100. Out of these 100, 10 will be reaerved for women and 5 will be reserved for minorities. So a Muslim male candidate from panjab will have to compete for 85 seats, not 100, since 15 are reserved for women and minorities. Suppose four friends hailing from panjab viz Muhammad Muslim khan( a Muslim male candidate), Ayesha bibi ( Muslim female candidate) Prem chand( Hindu male candidate) and Jennifer( Christian female candidate) appear in 2014. The number of vacancies announced are 200. Now Muslim khan will compete for 85 seats. Ayesha will compete for 95 seats ( barring 5 reserved for women) Prem will compete for 90 seats( save 10 seats reserved for women) And the luckiest of all has the highest probability of being allocated as she can have a seat from provincial open merit( 85), women( 10) and minorities( 5) I hope you got my point. And yeah, as mentioned above, every ear there are 7.5% open merit seat for Pakistan. So if you top 2014, and you belong to GBfATa, the rest of the qualifiers will be grateful to you because you won't disturb their quota seats. You'll get your seat from open merit. But if you are third in Pakistan and open merit DMG seats are only two ( as is the case this year) you will have your DMG but from your provincial quota. So, if you belonged to FATA, stood third is Pakistan and police was your first preference, to your utter surprise you wouldnt have been allocated to pSP. Reason, there is one POlice slot in open merit this year, which would be taken by Hassan Afzal ( merit no. 2). GBfATA has only one seat of police and that is reserved for women. And if your second preference was Customs( I had) again you wouldn't have been allocated to customs even if tou were on Merit no. 3. No customs seat in open merit and in GbFAtA, there is one customs seat which is again reserved for ladies. So, if you has DMG as your thirs preference, you could have availed DMG from Pakistan open merit, without bothering the rest of the merit in GBFATA. I hope I made it clear. If not, in sorry for taking so much time of yours. Kindly overlook the spelling mistakes and ommisions here and there in my posts. Being in a backwater, I have to communicate via my cell and I'm not good at typing on smart phones. Anyway, if anything doesn't make sense in my Post, you are welcome to ask again.
