As I did not read or go through any specific book for Essay I am uncertain about suggesting you any. You can try Jahangir's, Haven't read it though. Overall I would say read alot. Anything and Everything, the more the knowledge in your head, the better you would about to blend it and produce a good piece of writing. That is exactly what I did.

I also attempted the same essay topic but went against it. The theme line that I followed was that It is true that women condition is deplorable and there is no gender equality, even now, but this myth can be broken if we follow the true and right interpretation of Islam is followed and Islam is the only solution for it.

This way I started off with historical facts from other religions and civilizations, the current situation of women the reasons etc. Than came to Islam and the status of women in it. Also discussed the hypo critic western gender equality and why is it there. than came to the positive aspects and concluded.

I would like you to ponder on this theme line and give your kind suggestions. Was going against the topic a mistake? or did I failed in my arguments to convince the examiner?
