Default Css 2017

Respected Seniors,

I have decided to start preparing for CE 2017 from December/January 2015 (after my graduation) but I'm totally blank about which subjects I should take start with and what should be done to excel in Essay and English (Precis & Composition) in such a little time as I have never written anything good in my life so far in English language.

Kindly advice.

Best Regards,
Motivator1

i think starting with newspaper (dawn or tribune) will be great. it will help you getting in tune with english comprehension and will boost your vocabulary. jotting down important words, terms, idioms and sentences will enhance your writing skills..
im also a junior member having an eye on 2017 exams... Seniors might give you more substantive informations. i just shared my views and doings..
Hope we all bell the cat ... crossing fingers.

Concentrate on compulsory subjects. For essay, just read some essays written by CSPs and get an idea of their expression. Practice a paragraph daily and one whole essay weekly. Read editorial page of dawn at least couple of times in a week.
The syllabus has changed so no one is sure about subject selection for CE 2017 but Regional languages, especially Punjabi, has remained scoring.

Hello Motivator,

If I have not got it wrong, you meant to say that you want to start your preparation from January 2016. As you want to appear in CSS examination in 2017 so roughly you have more than a year to prepare for; but you have called it little time. Can you please explain what does it mean by little time? If you have any other responsibility then how much time can you exactly give to the preparation of CSS? How little actually?

Please mention your previous qualification so that we can be in a better position to advise you what subjects to opt.

For every building, foundation is built first. For expertise in English, grammar is the foundation. Starting studying English grammar.

There is no further news regarding any step taken to implement the recommendations of making masters mandatory for CSS. And syllabus doesn't change a lot. so there is a high probability of it remaining the same. Cluster based exam also seems to very far from being introduced.
So work on your compulsory subjects first.
best of luck.

Default hi ardent ...

Ardent make a plan & then start

Uptill Jan select your optionals ( based on your academic background & aptitute/interest)

Start reading Dawn from now for it requires temperament to have understanding & interest.

Start English Grammar from CSS Bible Exploring World of English.

Check your stuff with CSS Mentor or English Professor.

These are enough. Don t be panic. Just divide your task & identify priorities (imp. to least imp.)

Wish ya all success !!!!

Read DAWN, cover essentials of other subjects. Pray a lot because luck matters significantly.

Smile Change your common words to uncommon words!

The only best practice to maximize your vocabulary is Diction.

E.g: Read any book of synonym (Preferably Advance vocabulary and composition for O level by Red spot Publishers) and choose the word which give simple meaning as well common for you, then jot down it in following technique:

Common word..............................Diction
Education................................... Inculcate,know-how
interfere.....................................Medd le
Think........................................ Mull-over, cogitate

Just replace your current vocabulary with its complex synonym.
