This was my 2nd attempt:
Essay: 12
Precis & Com: 52
GSA : 49
Curr. Aff : 45
Pak aff : 67
Isl st: 59

Optionals:
IR-I: 47
IR-II: 30..= 67.......but in 2018 got 41+67=108
USA His: 58
Ilaw: 37
Punjabi: 63...
total: 569 including essay marks.....will try my luck again in 2021...CSS is all about uncertainties. For ist attempters: if you are planning for 2nd attempt in 2020 do not go with less preparations especially in case of essay and precis papers.

Please don't make fun of me because I didn't prepare at all. Literally 0 days! This rather gives me hope that if I invest some time, I can do it.

Intl law 33 (although pass but my score in 2016 was 75)
Total 606 (excluding essay)

same happened with me, although my essay went very well. Last year i got 40 marks and this time i can't believe.

The topic you selected was open to interpretation. You interpreted it in terms of global politics etc. which was a perfectly reasonable approach to take in my opinion. By giving you zero marks, the anonymous examiner has given the proof of his own incompetence.

I'm also thinking about the same thing. My essay paper went really good but jo marks examiner ne mujhe award kiye hain wo agar main nashay main b paper likhoon to nahi mil saktay mujhe. Can't digest these marks. And bad luck is, we cannot ask them for recheck. Just recount ho saktay hain marks jiska faida nahi koi.
