CSS officers’ induction in cantonments revived

ISLAMABAD, Oct 25: The government has revived the system of induction of Central Superior Services (CSS) officers in Cantonments along with restructuring of the Military Land and Cantonment (ML&C) group.

At a meeting held here on Thursday, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz expressed confidence that the revival and restructuring of Military Land and Cantonment would help provide better municipal facilities to people living in Cantonment areas.

The practice was discontinued by the present government a few years back causing resentment among career officers working in Cantonments.

According to an official handout, the prime minister said that the re-organisation and re-structuring would also address the impediments in delivering services to the people.

The meeting was informed that the revival of Military Land and Cantonment would ensure the automation of land record, better education and health facilities, clarity of building codes, better maintenance of land record, availability of clean drinking water, better sanitation system and transparency in collecting revenue.

It was also recommended that permanent absorption from officers of other groups who were already on deputation and were willing would be considered for induction into the ML&C group.

The restructuring of various departments being manned by officers of Military Land and Cantonment would ensure effective local government and good governance in Cantonment areas.

What is ML&C all about? What post one gets after s/he gets inducted into it?
Can someone enlighten us on this.

news r in the air that govt has finally decided to revive office management group (OMG) in css exam.
this group was abolished in 1999-2000, as a result, there is great shortage of section officers in pak secretariat in islamabad. govt. hired 300 retired SOs 2 do the job, but still finding no solution 2 the problem, they ve decided 2 revive OMG.

anyhow, i welcome this admittance of mistake, as govt revived many old systems which they initially abolised, this revival is also praiseworthy

does this mean that those who cleared written of 2K7 would also have the option of OMG ???? in other words more seats ?????????????

if thats the case then its going to be a great news for all as it would certain a seat for each of the punjab domicile qualifiers .

a good news to hear as v dun expect such good news from anywhere now a dayz

Well to my knowledge this group is like CDA of cantonments taking on taks like land allotments, developing and other municipal tasks...

i am not clear of the whole hierarchy but i think BS-17 officer is cantonment executive officer, who btw has a good house n car and other required human reosurces at his disposal...

Regarding the question whether thsi group would be included in CSS-2007 , well can't say since seat allocation time is quite far away right now.
