CSS : Should the age limit be increased?
CSS: should the age limit be increased? Saturday, 30 Oct, 2010 This is apropos of Samina Syed’s letter (Oct 23) regarding increasing the age limit for candidates who wish to appear in the CSS. I do not agree with her point of view. There are many people who champion relaxing the condition of age limit for CSS. I respect their argument but I think the present age limit is accurate and approbate. For instance, if we consider the case of a person starting her/his civil service career at the age of 32, then s/he will not be able to serve the country more than 28 years. This is not commensurate to what is invested on him by the government to make him able to serve the country. On the other hand, a person who enters civil service, let's say, at the age of 24 has great horizon to work with full devotion and courage and s/he can serve for a longer period thus giving back the public and the country what they require from her/him. So there is more of a need for career counseling of all appearing candidates so that people in their early twenties can join the civil service and become good office bearers. An administration with young blood is much more energetic, innovative, and efficient than that characterized by old ones. RANA UMAR FAROOQ Lahore |

Age limit should extend to 30
I think age limit should extend to 30 years. The level of education in Pakistan is very low and most of the students start their academic career at the age of 6 years in rural areas. There is a hell of difference in the mental caliber of a student coming from a Urdu medium Govt.school and that from an English medium school. Urdu medium students require more time for preparation. There are huge number of students that have to financially support their family and they don’t have enough time to pay proper attention to their studies. They should be given time.
There is no proper career counseling in Pakistan. Most of the students don’t have proper information about CSS or other competitive examinations. And two years relaxation in age limit will not affect any sort of energy level or innovation. One of my friend is working as AD LDA and LDA is not giving him leave to appear in CE-2011. SO he may not be able to appear in CE-2011. What should he does? Do you think he should quit the job ? People are committing suicide for want of job. He may be far more competent than many other csps as he has education and experience too. Apnay mulk k halat dekh kr hi chalna chahye hai.

rana saab......
i agree with mussa's comments bcz there no standard schools'cologs'and universities in rural areas of pak..so first give them aichesion cologe'beacon huse schols etc then i vl suggest to reduce the age limit to 26 than 28...our education standard is vry low so the age limit shud be incresd tht most of the students frm rural parts of pak may prepare and appear n civil service of pak...

The writer has forgotten that in many major countries upper age limit age for civil services is 30 years......are they stupid enough to ignore such merits of lower age criteria?

css age should not be increased
i dont see any common sense in trhis statement that relax the upper age limit for css competitors and also increase educational requirement..it is a competitive exam where u hve to fight in the same ground and everybody work devotedly to beat the others so educational qualification, graduation is sufficient...the mettle is checked on the day and its the performance on the which counts..let the graduates, masters and Ph.Ds compete on equal footings and AS POET SAID JIS DIYA MAIN DAM HOGA WO DIYA REH JAYA GA........SECONDLY ALSO CONSIDER THE POOR LITERACY RATE OF OUR COUNTRY...

For bachelors it should be 28 years, for masters 30 years, for PHD 35 years.
