Thumbs up Tips For Interview

Interview Tips

Two keys to success in anything: Be a person of:

1.Definite major purpose: when you become purposeful, it redirects your mind. New doors open.

2.Constant improvement: consist effort creates luck. Betting on luck is really bad game; instead figure out……How to get your own luck.

You are the only one who cares about your success. More often people want to see you fail, especially if you’re doing better than them.
Live for you.

Beliefs of Successful Men:
  • I'm un Self-conscious and couldn't care less about what others think.
  • I put myself and my life first.
  • I'm in control, and i don't let outside events destabilize me.

Your Attitude!
Take the attitude that you judge without being affected by judgments of others.

Dress Code:

Question? Why is it impotrant?
  • First impression is extremely important. As interviewers are normally senior members, one needs to dress conservatively.
  • A comfortable dress gives you the confidence, and allows you to focus on the task at hand.
  • It shows respect to the interviewer.

(Tip:Spend a minimum of Rs.2000 for your interview clothing accessories. Select a best brand of clothing accessories which suits your style because its "the one interview which is going to make major difference in your life.)

Do's:
  • Carry a handkerchief.
  • Wear polished shoes/ Clean footwear.
  • Carry an extra dress in case you have a vehicle.
  • Be clean Shaven.
  • Have your hair well groomed.
  • Carry a neat folder, With all your certificates and their photocopies.

Don'ts:
  • Wear flashy/ colourful clothes.
  • Wear loose tie.
  • Too much oil in your hair.

Greeting the interviewer:

Question? How do i greet the interviewer sitting down:

It is better to keep standing till you are asked to take a seat. When the interviewers asks you to sit down, say,"Thank You, Sir/ Madam" before sitting down. If not asked , seek permission.

Inside the Room:
Stand with an eredt and good posture. You should greet the interviewers by saying "good morning sir/ madam." (or an appropriate greeting to suit the time of the day). in case you are standing close to the interviewers, you should firmly shake his/ their hands.

Imp: Note
It is the fact that more interviews are lost because lack of proper eye contact rather than from lack of ability. A smile in the face really helps.

Remember First Impressions, Last forever. Exude confidence (Loud Voice Firm Handshake) and show respect and humility at all times.

Question? What do i say when leaving the interview room?

When interview ends, you should smile and look at all the interviewers in the eye, say "Thank you, Sir/ Sir/ Madam."- And Through nods and gestures, try to tell the interviewers that you likedthe experience.

About Yourself

Tell us something about yourself.-- Introduce yourself.

Poor Answer.
My name is...., My father....., Works with....., my mother is....., and my brother is studying in...., i have done my schooling form....., thereafter i did my graduation from....., my specialization being....

Analysis of the poot Answer

The above Answer suffers from some major deficiencies:
  1. The interviewer is interested in knowing more about you, perhaps more than what is given in the bio-data. he is usually not very ingersted in your family background. perhaps, you could let the interviewer understand you better by telling him about your hobbies, strengths and weaknesses, special achievements in life, why you are interested in this JOB...
  2. The answer does not provide the interviewer with the direcion for the next question. The candidate could have easily veered the interviewer to his areas of strength.

General Guidelines:
  • Donot bluff. If you are not sure of the answer, you can always say "i don't know sir as i haven't had much exposure on it..." instead of getting caught.
  • Do not use techinical terms.
  • You should be so clear about your communication level that you could explain to a child.
  • Use examples if possible.
  • Never lose your calm.

Explain academic performance graph, if going down:

Question? How should you prepare for this Question:

Remember that your main ain is to divert the attention of the examiner from your grades, (which is your weakness) to your areas of strength (maybe some extra-curricular activities, hobbies, current affairs etc.)
  • Be prepated for the questions on academics that you may be asked..... on the other hand, if you are able to give correct answers, the impact of poor performance s reduced. so just refresh your basics.

If you have several extracurricular activities, talk at length about your extra-curricular activities, what you learnt from such activities and how that would help you become a better TEAM PLAYER FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION. Try to make your answer interesting. In case you are able to interest the interest the interviewers in your extra-curricular activities, it is highly probable that they would not quiz you further in academics.

If all goes wrong

Question? What if it all goes wrong

You might sense that you are failing to establish a rapport with the interviewer. this is very probable in most interviewers.

Resons could be:
  • interviewers want to conduct a stress interview: here interviewers do not express any opinions about what you say and maintain a very straight face throughout- so that you do not know how you are faring in the interview. in such a situation, try to mintain your composure, smile and nod at interviewers. Occasionally , wit and humor in your answers could also help. never become nervous or think that you are doing badl in the interview. concentrate on answering the questions asked to the best of your ability.

Don'ts

Don't get irritated or aggressive, give contrary points of view, or give ling-winded explanations to cover your mistakes.
