Whenever to appear for an interview, do not forget these Do's and Don'ts of the interview .

DOs

Do present an air of confidence during your interview and understand what is expected of you.

Do your homework and find out as much as possible about the institution, department and the faculty. Know the institution's web information.

Do tailor your job talk to the attendees and make arrangement for any A/V support in advance.

Do keep your job talk general and short. Don't talk about all of the details, but show that you are aware of them.

Do address questions at your job talk and don't be afraid to admit you don't have an answer.

Do show interest in your interviewer's work. Read at least one paper written by each person in your area.

Do show respect to committee and department staff. Be flexible and polite.

Do dress appropriately.

DON'Ts

Don't forget the goal of the interview is to see if there is a match between you and the department.

Don't forget you are always being interviewed, even at meals, parties, casual conversations and graduate student meetings.

Don't forget to check your time and not go over the time allocated for your job talk.

Don't forget to ask people about their work.

Don't forget to send any materials you promised to individuals as soon as possible.

dear these are very gud tips but nee ur more help for my interview which will be held at PCS office for the post of " senior instructor in forest BPS-17" on 02-05-2007 here in Peshawar (NWFP).


please help me in this regard because i m going to be appear for the first time in my life for any kind of interview. no doubt it is a big game to deal with .

dear bro!
dont be scared abt the interview its just a pleasure to be interviewed. be in a clean and tiddy dress. walk in confidently tell them clearly whatever u hav n mind. keep your tone reverential and ur arguments powerfull.if u dont know an answer dont feel embarrased to let them know. dont argue abt a subject for which u dont hav any substantial material.
u should be quite at home about the department for which u are applying, they want to see if u are in harmony with the department. always try to prove ur arguments with facts and figures.

GOD was mercy at me at the tie of my interview.

when i entred to the penal room i pay salam and they let me set on chair.

as i belong to Mohmand agency the chairman asked about the name of a archealogoy term which was alien to me i simply say sorry.

then he asked question relevent to my subject which make argumentation between us. but i stay firm at my stance. and face him blodly and even didnt feel for a single moment tht i am giving interview in Public Service Commision

then he give me pencil to write down something. as i was writting he ordered me to hold the clipboard by both hands but i ignored him (may b which was a foolish act from me) and keep writting then he stand from his chair and stare at me with fierce and say that keep it at both hands. i give him a smile and say confidantly ok sir soory.(may be he was depressing me or cheking my courage)


any how then he said that start writting waht im saying to u. he started with full swing and said a paragraph so fastly that he didnt belive that i would follow him but it was an easy task for me and i worte it down correctly. then he tols me that spek loudly what u have written . when i speak it then apprciate me.

after that another member of panal asked me a simple question but i failed to staify him and say sorry.

then at last another director asked from me a question and told me that we dont want to appoint u for his job (with a cunning smile) i replied with a smile and told him that u poeple knows better than me that who deserve this job

he said thanks u can go now . i came out with a hope that i will be fail in my interview bcz it was my fist interview in my life.

yes dear i got failed but the reason is that my qulaification was not much more as compare to the selected candiated who are Phds.


may be it was the reason but not quite sure.....
