Psychological Assessment

7th & 8th March; 2012, FPSC Regional Office , Mustafa Town Lahore.

Day – One:7th March Reporting Time: 7.30 AM

I reached well before time.

A. All Original Documents including Original NIC was taken in custody for verification to be returned at the end of the day.
B. Application form duly filled, attested copies of all documents, of National I.D card and Domicile submitted.

Then we were taken to the Room where test was to be conducted.

1. We’re provided with a printed copy on which our particulars available with the FPSC according to our application form were. We had to revise/update age, education, job, annual income, siblings, two references with their addresses etc. We also were asked to submit a picture. After that the test started in the following manner.

2. 60 Questions in 40 Minutes – an IQ test comprising number sequence, word relationship and miscellaneous questions.

3. Non-verbal Intelligence Tests comprising 50 Questions to be solved in 30 minutes.

4. Incomplete sentences to be completed. 35 sentences in 8 minutes.

5. Personality Test. 240 Statements to be answered with Strongly Agree (SA), Agree (A), Neutral (N), Disagree (D), Strongly Disagree (SD). Read the statement and cross the appropriate option on the answer sheet.

6. A set of six day to day problems with detailed description followed by questions. It’s more like the reading comprehension test but the purpose is entirely opposite here. 6 Problems followed by 4 Questions in each problem to be solved in 30 minutes. (This was the test which was more interesting and easier and which I was able to do very well in time)

7. 30 Minutes Break. (Though we took more time and came to the room few minutes late and that also when a person came to call us on canteen where we were sitting having tea.)

8. Picture Story Writing. 3 Pictures in 15 minutes. (5 Minutes for each.)

9. Pro forma containing I think 19 questions relating to one's life. Few of the questions which I remember were.

1. Positive qualities and negative characteristics of your personality,
2. Two favorite personalities and what you have learned from them and developed in yourself,
3. Two favorite books and their authors and the reason of their likeness,
4. Two important national and international events and their significance,
5. What influence religious teachings have on an individual?
6. Do you face problem in written or verbal communication,
7. Any progress in society during last decade,
8. Any decline in society in last decade,
9. How the performance of bureaucrats can be improved when owing to job security they do not pay heed to duty,
10. What deficiency or weakness is in you owing to over protectiveness of parents etc?
11. If you were born again what mistake would you rectify?
12. Which responsibility do you share nowadays?
13. A joke
14. Steps to resolve Baluchistan Issue
15. Any stand which you took in family where others were against.

10. Autobiography in 8 Minutes. (Thanks Allah I was able to complete it well in time)

11. Incomplete Sentences Again. 35 Sentences in 8 Minutes.
This was the end of day 1st and we got the original documents back.
We were directed to reach next day at 9 am.

I was as a whole satisfied with my performance, when I left the centre.

Psychological Assessment

Day – Two , 8th March : Reporting Time: 9 : 00 AM

I reached in time. We were made to sit in a waiting room.

There we were assigned our numbers according to which we had to sit in the discussion room.
Mine was No. 3

After some time, we were taken to the room where we had to perform the task and discussions.

We all sat on our seats according to our numbers.
Three Psychologists were sitting there to have an eye on us. The person sitting left of all greeted us and gave us the instructions.

First discussion had to be in Urdu and second in English , each having time 15 minutes .

First Activity: Group Discussion in Urdu.
Topic: “Iran per Aqwam e Muttehda ki Pabandia Moassar Saabit nai ho saki”
(All of us spoke in favor of the topic )
Time: 15 Minutes.

Second Activity: Group Discussion in English.
Topic: “In war against Terror Pakistan has suffered heavy losses.”
(Here also there was unanimity of views)
Time: 15 Minutes.

Third Activity: Command Task

We were handed over a file containing one printed page and one blank page. The printed page contains an administrative problem which we had to carefully read and prepare its solution/proposals/as directed in the description. We were then asked to deliver it before the group clearly describing the problem at hand, our job/task, solution(s) and then conclude it.

Time for Preparation: 15 Minutes
Time for delivering it: 8 Minutes

My task was as that a famous lecturer of a college had come across house-theft and he was mishandled also. The students of 5 colleges as a protest against this unfortunate incident had boycotted the classes. Earlier they also had two hour strike and blocked the road as well. They had shown dissatisfaction with the inquiry being conducted by A.D.C.O.
I in the capacity of D.C.O had to convene the meeting and after explaining the issue at hand with the participants of the meeting had to take their valuable suggestions and devise a strategy to tackle the issue.

When all had finished the command tasks we were given break.

Before going on break we were taken to the waiting room and made to sit in the order of number we were assigned. We were given a paper on which we had to award number to our fellow group members based on their performance. We had to award No 1 to the person who performed the best and then No. 2 to the send best and so on and No. 1o to the person who performed less well then all others.

After this we had a Half hour break.

After the break we were again made to sit in waiting room and we were called one by one to the room where we had performed group discussion and command task and Psychologist took the interview.
All the three Psychologists asked questions mostly about myself my family my ambitions my past and my future planning. They asked everything in Urdu and I answered also in Urdu. Was a good exercise.

Alhamdulilah, I'm with content with my performance, though room for improvement remains always vacant.

what kind of reference they ask for, a friend of mine told that they ask for two references of friends and two references of relatives

Brother you can write any two references other then family members.
I wrote one name of my friend and one name of the Principle of my school.
