I apologize I am hyper by your all timing showing silver linings to dumb people who are continuously still expecting something " magical'' from you the mighty historian man.

Leave expecting people .
Why not you go to library and read what ever material you want.
Why are we so shortcutt people.
Let it go people ( inherent of IQRA)

I am born Ashraff ul makhlooqaat
but my choice is to live my all life in a society of claimers of swords but not pen in the name of their ''honor''.

Cloud is black , You need to struggle to find a silver lining and for that you will have to touch the sky first.

Your criticism is accepted .. But I can't just put a book on market containing mere copy pasted material .. I'm 'writing' a book, not just putting material together .. It takes time and it'll take time in my case as I have a lot many other obligations too .. Aspirants have already been given plenty of guidelines in the meantime to prepare adequately .. The 'magic' has already been transferred .. The remaining of it will come and all will know .. I have promised that book but I can't give a deadline .. Peace out ..

Regards ..

Default Best Documentaries

To my view "Rageh Omaar's" documentaries are the best for students of Islamic History and Culture... other then Bettany Hughes.

Default new syllabus

Dear Bro,
do you think that IHC is still a good subject after it has been made a 100-marks subject? And how do see the changes made in the syllabus? I instantly dropped this subject after a horrible experience in my 2015 attempt, but now I am compelled to opt this subject again otherwise it would be very difficult for me to cover all optional subjects. I notice some subtle changes in the syllabus: like topics of renaissance and muslim contributions in it and the impact of these contributions on Europe have been dropped; topic of sufism has been added. I need to opt a subject from history group. My friend is advising me to opt US history, but that could be an extra burden for me. On the other hand, I have a lot of time and my compulsory subjects are covered well. What do you suggest? Should I opt IHC, which I prepared well for my 2015, but had a horrible experience, or should I go for US history and bear the extra burden of a completely new history subject? My combination in 2015 was IHC, geography and psychology. Now I am thinking of opting Psychology, IR, P-Administration, I-Law + a history subject.

I have gone through the syllabus and its too much for a 100 marks subject .. I'm not sure how it'll go along as a viable subject from here on .. I bet the syllabus has been made much more interesting with the addition of some new topics but its very unfair on the candidates to reduce such a vast subject to 100 marks only ..

I'm not sure what changes have been made to other history subjects .. And I think its totally on the aspirants now to pursue to whatever subject they find themselves at ease in preparing .. After all, most aspirants will have to choose at least on of the history subjects to complete their 600 marks in optional .. I would still have chosen Islamic History if the syllabus of all other History subjects were of near same volume ..

Regards ..

Assalam u alaikum everyone. I would like to share an interesting thought and it will be appreciated if few seniors and few aspirants preparing for 2016 share their thoughts on this. I have opted Muslim law and i am preparing Islamiyat (compulsory) these days. I have come to a conclusion that while preparing these two subjects you automatically cover at least half of the syllabus of Islamic history as well. I mean, the papers are not going to be directly syllabus based with direct questions. They will contain questions which will be adjoint with history and some current affairs. So isn't it a good idea to opt for Islamic history?

iSheikh, don't gamble. Though your optimistic idea of the expected paper is good, it might not necessarily be that way. Even if it is, you have to know history really to talk like a historian. And history subject examiners are so irked with vague conceptions and unreflective narrations that they tend to vent their tempers on reductionist answers.

Better not opt Islamic History if you cannot devote at least 25 14-houred days to the subject.

Best!

Disclaimer: The above opinion is no more than a speculation.

i see your point. Thank you. What would you suggest then. i have opted IR, Muslim Law, Sociology, Public ad. I am confused about the last subject. options left are either Gender studies which is a new subject or one of the history subjects. what about US history?
