well dear bro news paper is one of the most important source but through that you can go only for issues in current scenerio how abt cold war? and wot abt the ballestic missile race?
so yah man you have to go through few books take any of cuurent affair for eg dogar or any other they do have almost all prominent issues from the near history however you eill have to go through cold war, and the legacies of major powers
i wud sugest another book

"power and insecurity BEJIENG, USA AND RUSSIA" well this book will cover frm the end of 40's till the end of cold war.. it helps alot..
but yah do go through dawn without faill
regards
