AoA.

Book for political and constitutional History would be " Constitutional and Political History of Pakistan" By Hamid Khan ( i will check the name again).

For Muslim Political Thought i have already told you that Muslim Political Thought by M. Aslam Chaudhry would be a good choice but if you don't like it then Muslim Political Thought by Rosenthal or History of Mulsim Political Philosophy B M.M.Shareef that is if you can handle them.

Yes you would have to study the Life of Holly Prophet (pbuh). It is relevant not only in islamiyat paper but it can even be used in the essay paper. Besides we'r all muslims and we should have a sound knowledge of Our Prophet (Pbuh) his teaching and Life. Questions are asked from Prophet's life and teachings.

Regarding your query about K. Ali's books. They are sufficient but given the recent trend you will have to blend the information with some good sources and develop and good technique and style to attempt your papers. I have mentioned the books in the " Books for Optional subjects" in the beginners section.

Regards

hi,
can u suggest as to how i shud go abt the political thoughts of both the western and muslim thinkers(m using M. aslam ch's book )...... i dont seem to remember anyhting i read........
also can u highlight the important works(such as bentham's theory of punishment, al-ghazali's amir etc) of the specified thinkers both ,the western and the muslim, that might be important for the exams.

one other question.
javier solana is the EU foreign policy chief.
there was an mcq which is as follow:
javier solana is:
a) spanish foreign minister b) president of argentina c)foreign policy spokesman of the european community d) none of these

would option c be correct?.... that is can we interchange or alternate spokesman for chief in this case ?........ or no option d is the correct answer?

@jaguar9

AoA.

Political thought is a bit of mind twister for those who are studying it for the first time. Best thing to do is that read every topic again and again with full concentration till you grasp the essentials. I mean its difficult for everyone. Just don't loose heart. Once you get familiar with the subject it would be easy for you as every philosopher has different ideas influenced by circumstances in his era ie, In Hobbes time England was facing civil war hence his theory stresses for a strong government, Plato's republic is an indictment of the prevalent greek society.
I don't recommend Aslam Ch's book if you don't have background in the subject. You can go through Judd Harmon's book before consulting Aslam ch's book so you can have fair idea of a philosopher's life and times. This will help you alot.

Important Topics
The best way to go about this is to scroll the past papers of last ten years. Take out the questions and prepare them and inshalla i am sure you won't miss out anything in the paper.

I think Mr.Solana is the Foreign Policy chief at E-U, so the answer to this mcq can be (C).

Regards

Books for business administration

1. Management by Horold Koontz and Heinz Weihrich
2. Marketing by William J. Stanton
3. Financial management by Fundamentals of Financial Management Van Horn

These two books cannot be compared.Safdar Mehmood's book is just about the Constitution of Pakistan 1973 while Hamid Khan's book comprehensively covers political aswell as constitutional history, various efforts at constitution making, reforms etc.

No change of syllabus has yet been announced.

AoA.
I'll try to come up with some simple definitions if you require their meanings in political terminology.

Quote:
1) simple majority
If a party has 51% of the total number of seats in a legislature, then that party is said to have a simple majority in that house. For example American senate has 100 members and if Republican or democratic party has 51 seats in the house they will have a simple majority in the house.

Quote:
2) absolute majority
People have different thoughts on this. I think a majority which can not be defeated in a house can be called an absolute majority ie 51%.But some say that a party is said to have an absolute majority if it is able to pass any bill or amendment in the parliament that will be 2/3rd of the total number of seats in the case of Pakistan.

Regards

Quote:
3) Popular vote
It means vote by public ie voting in which all can vote irrespective of one's race, caste, creed, gender, education or wealth. The only barrier is the age limit which is varries from country to country ie in Pakistan one can vote if one is 18 or more.

Quote:
6) joint electorate.
Joint electorates mean elections in which people have to contest and vote irrespective of one's religion, caste etc. The perfect example is available in our History.Muslim league demanded Separate electorates simply because if Muslim contested on general seats they would loose because majority of the population was hindu and they wouldn't vote for a muslim candidate.
