thesis is N/A for private candidates.
and in part one all subjects are mandatory and in part two you will have to study 2 subjects which are comparative political system and Pakistan movement.and rest of subjects you will opt from optional which are mention on PU website.

Master in political science can be very helpful in CSS as 300 marks are covered by the subject. 200 marks by the political science two paper and 100 by constitutional law as constitutional law is one of the important paper of master in political science. if someone has done master, then he should not much prepare for it, just revise the syllabus once before going in the paper. i got 180 marks in these three papers without any preparation.

Paper 1 : Western Political Thought: 100
Paper 2: Muslim Political Thought and Institutions: 100
Paper 3 : Comparative and Developmental Politics: 100
Paper 4 : International Relations: 100
Paper 5 : Ideology and Dynamics of Politics in Pakistan: 100

and in Part-II
Paper 6: Comparative Political Systems.
Paper 7: Pakistan Movement.
Plus4 Optional Subjects.

in part 2 you will opt 3 subjects with 2 mandatory subjects pak movement and comparative political system.
my 3 optional in part 2 were public administration,local government system and external relations of Pakistan.
