what is meant by strategic metals????

Strategic metals are those metals which are required for the economic development and national defence of a country. They are used as jet fuels, space research,atomic plants. Examples are manganese, titanium, zirconium.
now please tell me can we call uranium as strategic metals if not then why??? and why we say titanium as strategic metal??

Uranium is not "very essential" element...Titanium is very useful as compared to Uranium...It can be used in technology "safely" as well...Just a guess
