Switching circuits are use to make logic gates, logic gates are used in every digital applications i.e TV, VCDs, computers cams, mobiles. whenever you make a switching circuit it will be anyone of logic gate.

Switching in electronics is performed through many ways;for example

Through electro mechanical Devices

1. Relays
2. Circuit breakers
3. Contractors


Through Solid state devices;

1. Diode
2. Transistors
3. MOSPHETs
4. op-to Couplers etc


And Through Logic Gates:

1. Flip flopes
2. Programmable ICs
3. Micro controllers etc

If an inverters outputs 50Hz wave sinusoidal........The transistors in inverter switches the DC from battery at the rate of 50 HZ.


Not all switching circuits are logic gates!!!!......rather all logic gates can be made switching devices.
