I visited an academy last week. There was a teacher with master in public add. He suggested me few things that left me totally confused. Following were his basic points:

1. Its a highly volatile subject. Every year marking pattern changes.

2. The supposedly paper setter "a teacher of public add" at Civil Services Academy , Lahore himself claims that "sultan khan" book available in market is not enough.

3. He (the teacher at css coaching academy) himself didnt opted for public add during his CSS attempt.

This has left me very confused. Please if there is any one out there, shed some light on the matter

thank u so much naila for guiding us.. More over its a paper that is very general in nature, seeking your opinion which can be sometimes dicey . I wanted to opt it, but now i have changed my mind and opting sociology instead.

There are some papers which are easy to prepare and understand e.g. Journalism, Sociology and Public Ad.

These three subjects are high scoring as well as low. It all depends on the level of preparation. However, most of the time they are good scoring subjects - of course Public ad including. Normally people think that their paper is general, hence easy to attempt and do not require any special preparation. This is wrong adn that is why they score less in these papers.

These papers are general however one must have clear theoretical understanding to answer the question properly. My opinion about public administration is entirely different. I think it is a very good subject which is not only easy and understandable but it may also help you in papers of current affair, pak affairs and essay. There has been low scores for journalism in 2010 however in CSS one should always ready to get such shocks. No one knows when which subject is going to be axed.

Though Sultan Khan's book is not enough, there are some other books available in the market as well. You can check those, but Sultan is better among them (at least when I checked). With Sultan's book you should watch/listen or read virtual university's lectures on public administration. Besides, a good grip over current administrative issues would help you a lot in the paper. So, Sultan, Virtual Uni and Current affairs are key to score higher in public ad.

Yes, above mentioned sources are enough. The paper pattern is changing these years. Now you need theoretical understanding to apply on a practical situation in Pakistan. So, current affairs are a must along with VU Notes. Dr. Sultan's book is not so good, so you can go to any good book depot, see any book on PUblic ad written by any Pakistani Author for competitive exams and purchase one of your choice. And if not, Sultan's would still work.

is const. law a good subject to swap with public admin @ rose_pk

1. Dr. Sultan
2. Virtual University Notes

Const law and Public ad both are good subjects and attains equal status, for me at least. However, you can opt as per your own capacity. If you are good in memorizing the articles/laws etc than C law is good, otherwise public ad is.

Public Admin by Dr najia Younis by Maktiba e Faridia Karachi is the buk which i read once got 65 marks in 2010 ...so try this ..its a comprehensive in nature n deals with Pakistani environment
