Dear Umair, "European History since 1789 by V.D. Mahagan" is the best book, i came across. Prepare paper 2 from this book. For paper 1, please buy "European History since 1789 by COMPETITION SUCCESS INDIA". I forgot the author's name. With 3-4 months preparation, you will easily get 120+ marks, inshaAllah. May Allah help you.

European History books
Nosheen, I started preparing paper 1 from Mahagan but i realized that he goes into extra details, that is details about wars, how many persons died in one war, how many in other and things like that. So i started searching for another book to prepare my paper1. I found this book "E. History since 1789 by competition success india" and i started preparing from it. Believe me, i read this book only twice, wiith an outline approach, and got 64 in paper 1. I didnt make any notes etc. Had i prepared from Mahagan, I know i would not be able to get even 50 marks.
For Paper 2 Mahagan is best but even for this, mahagan does not cover the whole syllabus of paper 2. you have to look for additional books for French History after WW2 etc. So its only upto you that how you take Mahagan. If you can digest complex facts and figures then you can prepare from Mahagan. Please do share your experience. Regards Farrukh Jadoon |

i think V D mahagan is a nice writer on european history and i dont think that he has given such a kind of details which make the reader tired yes he does not have an analytical approach.david thompson in his book "europe since napoleon" has given a nice analysis and it is a mature book on european history but problem here is that these both books are about 1000 pages each if one reads these two books he will not only be prepared for exams but will get a lot of treasure from these 2 books
