can the seniors guide me which book for indo pak history should one use? any book covering most part of the syllabus and in full details.
indo pak history of Kabeer Ali is the best
in urdu u can consult Abdullah Malik
Iswiri prasad's Muslim rule in subcontinent
and there are other two books available in the market which have 20 years solved papers.

well about the books available in the market, especially 20 questions on indo pak the one by muktaba faridi, written by ghanzfar, is the best of the lot.
the guy actually accumulated the references and quotes from both k ali and i h qureshi and if u look at the css syllabus there is mentioning of studying each and evry bit of indian history
there are rather topics to be perfected by the aspirant
a person , no doubt can read the most lengthiest of a book ,if it is piece of literary art as well as history but he could stuff his mind with all the chronological data in the book
i had read gibbons decline and fall of roman empire in 6 to 7 days averaging 150 to 200 pagges or more in one day but i am not even 30 percent ready to take a paper of roman history i just got the idea of how the roman empire collapsed (recimer pretorian guard theodesus jolian jovian christian goths huns saracens legions ostro goths vandals turks taimoor and other) so use the 20 questions 30 questions but equip your self with all the necessary and impressive information on various topics dont be a rattoo of history u are needed to provide a critical assay of a related topic
for objective use engineer naveed sarwer objectives of indopak and use o level history of indopak for the chronology (may be some other book)

Wd u plz dilute upon the the difference between a subjective paper such as current affairs, essay which require ur analyticl skills n optional like history one??Wonderful to know indeed that one does'nt need cramming at all while attempting a histry subjct...well,well....sounds like"Babur was babur,n came when he liked, conquered whatever he could in time that was dictated by Divine...n,so he lived and died while uselessly amassing lot of historical/chronological facts n figures of his times for a css aspirant to appear abt 500 years aftr him in Pakistan for his/her national service..

How many books one shud read for history like sub-continental one,why so many books n references, when there r but so simple facts found in all in one or two gud books...K.Ali n IH Qureishi cover all sylabi of Indo-Pak,then why shud one run hither thither for looking chapter to chapter brilliance....n tht too for geting essay-like,minus figure-fact cramming analysis of histry....

U better throw ur analytical light upon,Bro
Regards

well a ratoo of history will be attempting a paper of indopak history especialy a question of baber like baber started his incursion in india in -----month on ----day 1526 then he on 5 ---15-- he conquered that the name of occupied area is that ruler that on so much historical data
in the current world there are rather views on the impact of mughal empire is it good for india ( read Das capital a whole section of how mughal exploited india and how east india company is expoiting it than than eangles view in his letters to marx that why india is in a process of stagnation and how just a breakdown of water cource had resulted in the complete break down of mesopotemia)
current india is in crisis of identity fanatic hindus dont appreciate mughal art archetecture claims even on taj mahal after the domilition of baberi musjid so how all this thinking developed who was kamla devi who was partap singh and how u could assess character of aurangzeb u need yhe view of a biased hindu writer like majumdar and might need a viw of a supposed neutral one may be dowson smith and others
so there are some historical facts concealed in i h qureshi k ali and some concealed in hindu . these facts so clouted after the passage of hundreds of years that they may be termed as mere fiction and some times propaganda
well for css the subjective question only needed to be preparing for 20 to 25 questions i have never ever never ever from 1971 have seen a queastion out side the list of these question scan for ur self and the truth will be revealed to u
so going after these questions preparing them in a way that they u have perfected u r sphereof information on them will be the perfect answer
the question demands uer critical analysis on the certain topic u should know the other side of the story rather than propaganda so i still stick to my view that preparing topic and doing a simple brief and easy to remember history book is the best option do k ali do i h qureshi do any thing but remeber apart from the 20 to 30 questions major portion of the book is never touched in css papers

@goshi
towords pakistan by ahmed saeed
struggle for pakistan by I.H Qureshi
muslims rule in india by M.Souhail bhutti
bt if u want a single buk to capture all these topics in indo pak hist then it is very fifficult to find any book becouse u can find low standerd book bt not a gud book to cover muslim hist from 712 to 1947
