Default Was Chaitanya of Bengal also part of the Bhagti movement?

hello friends;

was Chaitanya of Bengal also part of the Bhagti movement? or did he actually revive Hinduism against Islam???

yes he was part of Bhakti Movement....he did work for the revival of Hinduism but that cannot be particularly taken "as against the Muslims"....

Thanks umar; but i believe we need to be little more careful while dealing with some prominent names who stood for religious reformation in the medieval India. Chaitanya and much earlier shankaracharyar although did take up the cause of reformation but it was more of a movement for the revival of Hinduism and purging it of some impurities that had permeated it over the years. Probably, it was done to check the success of Islam in the land.
True, they were against caste system, religious rituals, formalism and ceremonies, and preached monotheism and it is also historically evident that all this was due to the impact of Islam. However, they never championed the cause of humanistic dimension of religion and Hindu-Muslim synthesis which was an important element of Bhakti movement. This work was done by another band of religious leaders like ramananda, kabir, dadu,nanak etc. This is what i know and this is what i think, hitherto.
