In my humble opinion we should use quotataions which emphasize our argument. If we are to prove that Mahmood of Ghazna was not a religious bigot,we can quote W.Haig as,
" The strikes of Mahmood were perpetrated for securing his dominions than to expand Islam". |

Dear,
I believe it would depend upon whatever stance you are taking. if it is for the topic, then produce Quotes supporting them. Quotes are quoted to strengthen your arguments. So they depend upon your argument whatever that might be! |

what abt that
Hello seniorz and juniors.....
What if we write in paper before conclusion this thing E.g if there comes a question on Babur as great Mughal emperor. And under new heading" Babur in the eyes of historians". And we quote few historians. Will that be a good approach or not? Plzzz guide me Ummer Abbas and Last Island and other respected seniors With regards Mansoor Arshad

@ engr.Mansoor
if you read from any book you can right like this e.g I.H.Qureshi in his book writes".............................." ABC (historian)rightly said in his book about XYZ(character or event) "......................." he further added "........................." similarly you can quote using books of well known historians this makes it easy to find statements in the book you are reading

well that would depend upon the type of the question...for example if it is a personality related question.....then you can add the quotes from different authors as a support..i mean there is no need to put special heading like "Flana Khan in the view of different authors..."
brother...your view always develops after going through different books...so directly or indirectly your views are influences/shaped by those authors....therefore when you state something you can always quote authors...

I think whatever you are going to write should follow a logical sequence and inorder to make your logic more reader friendly one may use any tool that he/she find at that time.

umar you are right
but don't you think quotations made from authors' statements(word by word) make a question strong and more presentable. of course you don't need to write headings about quotations.

@ Deadly..
i guess there are two approaches to every paper...(A) perform good in every questions (B) Perform excellent in one/two and ordinary to good in the rest of the pack... i try to follow theory one...for that matter it is too much time consuming to write down everything in terms of different authors....obviously as i said earlier we are not historians ourselves so whatever we say/write, reflects the authors whom we have read....yeah it is good to quote the author from time to time...but in a fashion that makes it part of the answer....
