What are Basic Democracies?

Seniors please help me that is the meaning of this question Indo Paki paper. And guide me what is the scenario of this question.

i am no senior to answer your question but owing to the fact that you come from the same ALMA MATER as mine so here it is
it is an in-direct system of democracy having itself associated with democratic system of US.it was used in the era of Ayub Khan who used this system to strengthen and legitimize his presidency "democratically"

is it still in pakistan?

obviously not.it was mere showpiece to legitimize the rule of Ayub and it expired with the ruler ship of Ayub khan (1958-1969)

Please suggest me some book which proves fruitful for me. And also tell me the five intellectual personalities in Pakistan history in redarding of their thoughts.

ok.lets me make it more concise for you.
i don't know whether you know about the Presidential Elections of US or not.Representatives are elected by people who in turn elects President.
same was the case in Basic Democracy where total of 80,000 member of Basic Democracy were elected by the direct voting from People of Pakistan.After the election of these members,the role of People on the election of President (Head of State according to 1962 constitution) became in-direct.
Now it was the vote of these members of BASIC DEMOCRACIES that would elect the new President.By this way the role of people in the elections is ruled out and the these Basic DEMOCRATIC MEMBERS were easily Manipulated by administration for the election.They had little of responsibilities and work to perform,and they were mere puppets in the hand of Real Martial law regime and their loyalty was cheaply bought for Route permits,import permits,rashan depot permit and other stuff.They were more of a councilor and union council NAZIM things with little performance and more source of corruption and easy source to keep the people away from politics plus showcasing of a fake Democracy and election of President.

Such topics are not much of a use,as they are more obvious to be asked in MCQ's or other stuff....
i read such stuff from random readings from books and internet.
