Presidential elections in usa
I am confused in the process... can someone clear it... what i get is that the citizens of us vote for electors who have committed to a party... then the electors vote for VP and President.... and the citizens of usa at no instance vote for a party or candidate like we do at any instance... right?

It was an old methadoloy in US elections that state legislatures would elect the VP or President, but now popular election are there, i.e., people themselves vote for the nominated candidates for VP or President.

The President of United States has never been elected through state legislatures !
He is elected indirectly by the people who vote for an electoral college (from each state whose number is equal to the number of the respective state's senators and congressmen ) . The electoral college in turn votes for the President and his running mate , the vice President . The electoral procedure has been laid out in Article 2 , as amended by the 12th Amendment .
