can we expect good marks (range 75-80) without citing relevant quotations?

it depends, but it is quite difficult to get 70+ marks without quotations. it is quite pertinent to cite relevant, quotations

I think one who has got good writing skills supported with awsome sentence structures can get 70+ marks in every subject. The key to get good marks is to be relavanat, however, no doubt, quotations and refferences do add extra charm and fascination in one's answer.

A quote is always mentioned to support one's views. For instance, when you opine that Arabs used to worship idols then you may reffer to this practice of Arabs from some reputed sources i.e. book e.t.c. A quote should always be relevant and to the point otherwise it will impact reverse. Therefore be careful in quoting something.
Regards.

Thank you haseeb. But i have few more questions as well i.e should one write the same words as written in book or just its gist or in ones own words? Secondly mentioning reference of source at the end of anwser is also productive/good?

I put here a quote and explain it to you. The quote is:

"Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you many learn piety and righteousness." Qur’an, al-Baqarah, 2:183

Now you can mention this quote in your own words showing the importance of fasting. You may write it as: it is mentioned in holy quraan that fasting has been made compulsory for Muslims as it was made compulsory for Muslims of past. As far as your query regarding mentioning the source is concerned I can tell you that you may put the source of a quotation either before or after the quotation.

Regards.
