Short history of Saracens covers more syllabus .. So prepare from there and add views by skimming and scanning in a short time from P.K Hitti ..

Even better if you study the three of them .. Mazhar ul Haq has explained the events in detail .. Other writers provide the insight and expert analysis ..

Regards ..

Lahorians!

Short History of Saracens can be found at the book stall located just at the entrance of Hyperstar (Ground Floor). Saw it couple of days back there.

Regards.

P.S. It would be perfect if one can read the 1st volume of "Zia-un-Nabi" by Peer Karam Shah. It gives unmatched minute details of the Pre-Islamic world. It didn't only help me solve the Pre-Islamic era question of IH&C-I, but also aided me in my Essay paper about Economic and Social Securities Given to Women in Islam.

Ameer Ali's book is more specific and syllabus oriented than the History of Arabs.

Both are very good books but A Short History of Saracens is more specfic and give minute details about the Umayyad and Abbasids as well as Umayyads in Spain as compared to Hitti's book but both are very good books and rationally you can benefit from both of them.....

To me it is appropriate to mention that you should read A short History of Islam and Muslim rule in Spain by Mazher Ul Haq for both papers. These two books will give you a detailed insight of knowledge as it has accounted every subject at micro level. After reading it, you should also study a brief and upto the mark book written by P. k. Hitti.
These books are trumendously helpful for CSS because Mazher Ul haq book will give you the detailed narration of every subject thus make you at home in solving MCQs and enable you to solve such questions which are a little trickey. On the other hand, P. K. Hitti will give you an intellectual touch thus making you abreast with intellectual knowledge. You should also prepare your own notes after reading these two books which will provide you as "ONE WINDOW" source.
Regards
