Can anyone guide me how to memoroize mu'allaqats. Thanks in advance :-)

Is it necessary to memorize Mu'allaqats? Where do they ask these?

i attempted poetic section in pms exams without reference to the context .......... simply wrote translation then explanation .........and got 77 marks .....
